rabidbee On the striker front, wasn't Knibbs a striker at Cambridge? Could we push him up next to Ehibhatiomhan and put someone else in midfield/on the wing? Personally, given Vickers has been involved in so much that is good, I'd give him the nod, with a plan to bring him off after 60 mins so as not to overstretch him.

This comes up a lot. He wasn't.

He was more of a wide forward wasn't he? who played the odd game up front if needed.

Yep

Would rather play Azeez CF than Knibbs from what I’ve seen

But suspect Carroll will start

I’d rather vickers and ehib, not really sure of Azeez’ best position but it doesn’t look like it’s in front of goal. Though I suppose the lad does need a goal.

Well he seems to want to do it all himself at times.

TRANSFER MARKET

Main position: Centre-Forward
Other position:
Right Winger
Left Winger

BBC

Harvey Knibbs: Cambridge United Striker extends deal until 2023

Harvey Knibbs: Reading sign striker from Cambridge Utd after Embargo Lifted

BBC

Harvey Knibbs: Cambridge United sign Aston Villa Striker

We should all write to the BBC etc and put them right.

Clearly he is not a centre-forward, or, indeed, a striker

The same BBC who said in their Millwall match report that Charlie Savage is on loan from Manchester United?

Yeah, I saw that.

Mind you, strictly speaking, that might turn out to be true
in the longer term as Man U have first pick if we sell him.

One mistake in one match report doesn't make the BBC
less reliable than Mr Certainty. Then throw in Local Papers
and TransferMarket also listing him as CF ...

They're all wrong. I've seen him play for Cambridge, I work with season ticket holders there. He's not a sodding striker ffs.

People SAYING “He’s not a centre-forward” or “No way is X a number nine” is a judgement call, not a fact.

Every official source lists him as centre forward or striker.

I appreciate your 17 years as a football coach and 20 years as a football manager gives you greater insight and far more weight than all those sources and even more so “talking to season ticket holders”, well that blows the world out of the water, dunt it?

Of course. I’ll get on to the BBC ASAP and ditto Transfer Market and explain that chat in an office and the opinion of Snowflake Royal completely overrules the facts

LOLLY @ getting all indignant because you thought you'd found a way to score internet points over me only to find that sometimes sports journalism for large media outlets are rather lazy and ill-informed about lower league players.

If you want some facts, he started with a few games as a forward for Cambridge early on, but quickly moved into midfield, where he has made the large majority of his professional appearances.

The BBC and Transfermarket are probably basing their reporting on his time as an Academy player at Villa. Just a little out of date.

He's not a striker. He doesn't play as a striker. He doesn't have a striker's goal record. We're not playing him as a striker. He can play upfront in a pinch if needed.

Remember Tim totally getting rather stroppy over him at Sutton saying he's not good enough and not the sort of player Reading should be signing all based on the BBC "fact" that he is a striker and had only scored a handful of goals last season.
