Royals and Racers Sorry no- all Watford gave on X was the score and 1 photo.

Yeah, saw that. Cheers anyway.

The side their local media expected was something like:

Jonathan Bond; Porteous, Hoedt, Pollock; Grieves, Kone, Kayembe, Baah; Massiah-Edwards, Doumbia, Bayo

Can't find anything anywhere to confirm, the Watford OS just gives the score and nowt else about the game. Meanwhile the Reading OS still has the match listed but no result, let alone teams.

Obvs it’s a subjective report but sounds fairly promising. We do seem to have relatively strong set of young players at the club

Royals 1st team squad pre-season might have stepped up a notch yesterday as i think they travelled to Ipswich to play a behind closed doors un- publicised match against the tractor boys. Result could have been 1-1

Obviously not your fault, but it's ridiculous we have to rely on hearsay and rumour to see how the squad is playing in pre-season

I don't think it is too much to ask that the club mention that a) we played and b) the score.

Depends on the reasoning behind it being under the radar - i.e. we are playing players who may be about to sign and don't want it being known or Ipswich want to keep the game quiet for some reason - or it was very last minute or didn't actually happen.

Yes I think this is the reason - we have players on pre-contract terms ...

That's fine (and also cool) but they could at least mention that a game occurred?

Given the absolute meltdown Millsy had over pre-season results last summer I don't blame them

It’s basically a training session. Who cares really?

They’ve advertised another 5 or 6 games haven’t they? No doubts we’ll get a small bit more info from those, building into full previews and reports for the last couple

no one actually cares, or are even talking about it. There is one post on the reading hashtag on twitter with no replies to it. The only person who seems to be pushing for it is Mouldy a few posts further up. so I think we can file under, meh..

Pushing for it is a bit strong, just think it is weird they don't mention it.

Looking at this, whilst the individual matches are pretty dull from a fan point of view (aside from Woking), it's a very good set of friendlies for the first team to have. Regardless of the results, I think playing five Championship sides is a good pre-season test for any League One side ahead of the league season. We have a much more settled side compared to last season, so pre-season should actually be worth something when developing team cohesion and trying out different tactics.

Believe the Woking game can be touted as "the battle of clubs with useless owners".

Both clubs have agreed no updates on social media during the game- but they have agreed to tell us the result- how very kind of them

Interesting

Does point a bit to Ryan and Kanu being involved this year to some extent. Have a feeling we’ll be seeing a fair bit of Ryan especially
