Spot on Stranded, my point was simply, lets give this guy a chance before like everyone else who comes in to the team for a bit part performance we slate him to high heaven.

Eh? To me it looks like Stranded isn't saying give DLC a chance, he's saying give a youth player a chance.

I don't care if he wants to give peace a chance, I'd just like to see a bit more of De La Cruz before he is consigned to the Hobnob metaphoric scrapheap as so many players seem to be before they are given a fair chance.

I'm slightly concerned by DLC's positional sense, and particularly tonight how much joy Burnley will get down the right with Seol playing just ahead of him :?

I also feel that Steve Richardson and Michael Gilkes was the worst left sided combination we've ever had at this club.

If he was 19, and with a potential career in front of him, I might have agreed with you. To me, at his age he's just in the way of one of our own homegrown.

Platypuss Mother Teresa also did a great deal of voluntary work, but I wouldn't want her at right back.

I concur. Her best position is in "the hole" just behind the strikers.

I thought everyone would know that she preferred being in goal because she was good with crosses

Sorry but someone had to say it

He wouldn't do either... Far too much effort involved.

Now grazing, that's more along his line of work.

Actually, is there is direct correlation between charity work and football inability?

Nezhen Typically RFC fickle fans can only think to make derogatory and totally irrational comments about a player who has played exactly 135 minutes in a Reading shirt.

And he hasn't impressed in any of them.

Nezhen I sincerely hope that any potential suitors or transfer targets do not read some of the utter cr*p that is spouted by some on here about their perceived ability, effort, professionalism etc. I know what a turn-off it would be to me if I was considering a move !!

I really don't think it's going to make a jot of difference to any potential signings.

Nezhen As it happens, De La Cruz was once considered the golden boy of Ecuadorian football alongside Agustin Delgado and Segundo Castillo. He is good in the tackle, has pace, good vision, likes to maraud up the wing Murty fashion and is known as a neat passer of the ball.

I'll give you the fact he likes to bomb on, he just can't or won't defend very well at the same time. Technically he's not a bad player, he just doesn't put it all together. He's never been a very good defender which is why he spent a lot of his time at Villa playing in midfield. Defending well is a bit of a weakness for us, especially if Murty isn't fit, and we need a more natural and competent defender to fill in at right back when needed.

Nezhen I suggest that like the other fringe players, who will be given a run-out tonight, that some of the hobnob knee jerkers at least reserve judgement on players such as De La Cruz until he has been given a chance to show his worth. It may also be worthwhile doing a bit of homework, or god forbid, attend a reserve match!, before this sort of drivel is beaten out on food encrusted computer keyboards !

I've seen him play for the reserves thanks, a couple of times. I've also seen him play for Villa for the last few years, he's just not very good and getting on a bit too. As someone else said, he's not getting near to the first team and I'd rather see the likes of Osano and even Ujah, who have both impressed me over the last couple of years, get a step closer to the first team.

Nezhen FWIW, I thought he had a great game at Upton Park earlier this season, but then perhaps that game may have been a bit too far to travel for some of our 'armchair experts' on here !

FWIW I thought he was ripped apart and one of the main reasons we defended so badly and were extremely lucky to come away with a clean sheet.

Game of opinions I guess.

He wants first team football, we're just paying him to make up the numbers, so I still reckon, do us all a favour and get rid if we can.

Agree, I was there too and though he had a very dodgy game and had their finishing not been so poor we would have had big problems. Whenever I see him play he seems to pass the ball out of defence straight to the feet of the opposition's onrushing attacking players at least once or twice.

Time for him to move on
