Huntley & Palmer
RoyalBlue Landzaat's might have been a great strike but is that all good goals are about? Sidwell's was a far better crafted and quality goal.

Defensive error on the edge of the box that allowed Harper to win the ball and start the move. It wasn't that good.

Still a good one-two (IIRC he'd tried a similar move earlier which didn't quite come off) and great finish.

Didn't Landzaat's come from a poor clearance?

25+ yard spank into the top corner against one of the best keepers in Europe, versus a neat little one two in the box and a simple finish into the corner. You are correct, no contest. The irony of those that argue this club isn't 'plastic' is only too aparent here

i jusrt want our players and club to get as much recognition as possible, and its humanly impossible for me to vote for another teams goal, even though i can clearly see the other goal has a certain quality to it.
1 vote for sids, just one though, i cant be bothered voting a million times like i did for DLC
97 % is impressive though

Because it isn't being voted for by RFC, just a few sad people on the internet that have found a loophole. It's an award that means absolutely nothing, yet people on here get very excited about the prospect of a Reading player winning it. A goal should be voted for because of merit, not because it was scored by your player.

Now Sid - 48% Wigwam player - 52%.

Also, FWIW, if Sidder's second goal had been scored by Arsenal or Liverpool, the MOTD pundits would have replayed highlights of it for twenty minutes from every angle, and been virtually coming in their pants.

There aren't that many people in Wigan!

So I suspect the whistle has been blown on one of the main football websites somewhere and we are being put firmly in our place by football in general!

Still, fun whilst it lasted and may be worth a revisit when the furore dies down.

Good point ... anyone notice the time and day when the voting ends?

The sheer gimpery of voting for Sidwell's goal in a meaningless competition aside, I have to say that I prefer to see goals like his to goals like Landzaat's.

I think there is something more impressive about quick passing and things approaching team moves.

When I see a goal of the month consisteing of nothing more than long range efforts, I do get a bit upset. Notmuch mind.

All the furore will have died down by the end of the week....Then we can make friday another vote-tastic day...

They usually do the cut-off Monday, although with there only being 2 Prem games next weekend it may well run for 2 weeks like della's did...plenty of time then...

cant we lock this thread.

it just makes us look stupid - and will probably mean that a reading goal isnt selected when we actually do have goal of the week in the future.

Exactly.

It's not plastic though, it's smalltime.

... it's a beautiful beautiful goal!! Or you could just smack the ball as hard as you can and sometimes it might just spectacularly hit the back of the net. With the aerodynamics these days the ball's stability in flight along with its trajectory is difficult to predict.

Of course. It does pail into insignificance when compared to the club making mugs out of the Reading support by encouraging us to visit the official site. "We paid for John Salako because of you clicking a mouse"
