AndyRFC
cmonurz Reading 1-2 Barnsley, 96/97 (I think), Morley for the Royals.

Indeed - a Penalty.

Paul Holsgrove (OG) and Andy Liddell helping Barnsley towards promotion. That was my second ever game. I remember some Barnsley fans being given the seats in the North Stand.

Regular occurance. Away fans had A Block so there were generally always away fans in the North Stand.

Im with JMW on this one I was too young to remember the actual game but I think I can narrow it down to either Workington or Rochdale circ 74/75.

Its funny that I remember going to wrestling at the Old Town Hall and watching Jackie Pallo, The Faulkners, Bert Royal et al but my actual first game escapes me.

Its funny but when I was young my dad for reasons best known to himself always went in the Town End where the away supporters were housed!

I never asked my dad why the away end but I think he was lazy and we would have had further to walk, but you all will be happy to know that I progressed to the Tilehurst End finishing my education in " The South Bank"

I must ask him next time I speak to him.

home to Mansfield, won 2-1, 1969.

Real fan, me. I should have been at the IOW festival or watching the first moon landing.

Or something.

Great game, most notably Adie's OG, and THAT Parkinson goal to put us 2-0 up.

So hijacking my original question... It was 5th April 1980, 1-0 against Plymuff, but who scored? How can I find out? Also, while I'm on a trip down really bad memory lane, what was Fozzies last game?

Beat me by a couple of months.

Aren't there a load of newbies on here!!!!!!!!!!!

Blimey, if you haven't seen the mighty Reading slogging it out at the foot of Division 4 you can't call yourslef a true fan!!!!

(This is, of course a wind up!!)

Funnily enough, my youngest lives in Nottingham now has Notts Co as his second team, (after RFC of course). When challenged as to why, he said "''cos they're so bad they're good!"

Now there's a true RFC type of fan!!! Must run in the family!!

March 1967 - Reading 2 Peterborough 2.

Not that I can really remeber much about it. The first game I have any real memories of is the 7:0 drubbing by Man City in the FA Cup the following season.

can't remember who the hell Reading played, but my first match would have been at Elm Park when I was about 8 years old, 'B' stand, (smuggled in by my Grandfather who always had a season ticket) in 1958 :)

FA Cup vs Wealdstone (won 1 - 0)

Three players sent off (2-1 Wealdstone) including a certain Vinny Jones....

Massive ruck in the town centre afterwards. Police had to close Broad Street.

I was hooked from then on......... :D

John Madejski's Wallet Was too young to remember.

My footy memory is awful. I had to ask the guy I go to matches with whether we'd beaten Man City ealier in the season!!

All footbal games meld into one for me and I can't hold them in my head. Yet a Blades-supporting mate can remember eveything that happened in every game he's ever watched. You mention any random player and you'll get "he played for X in our 3-2 defeat at X in '96 and scored with a farpost header in the 85th minute...the b*stard"....

seriously, how do people rememeber these things?? Last season is a almost a blank for me

I'm the same, my mate's head is full of games from the seventies but I can't remember what's happened by the time i leave the ground.

I love the fact that i end up with this instant footy fix. I can probably remember the scores from about 5 games in 17 years.

I'm the opposite.
For instance, mt first big football dissapointment was Reading 0 Port Vale 0 in 1979.
I can remember that Vale had a player (Felix Healy) sent off and we had a perfectly good goal ruled out, but sometimes i can't remember what i've done this morning.

Damn Stella
