Keeping a clean sheet!
Anything above that will be an achievement against a little galaxy of south coast.

Can I just interject here and say how much I f*cking hate Portsmouth?

My least favourite ground visited (including the Withdean, at least I have seen us win there), horrible pikey locals and I have never even seen RFC so much as score a goal against this revolting lot. Great fans apparently; yeah, if you call boasting the youngest convicted football hooligan amonsgt your number as great support. I can recall battling it out with Pompey in plenty of turgid mid-nineties Division 1 matches and they were no better supported than Reading were in those days.

That said if it's a game I desperately want to win you can count on the score bing something along the lines of Reading 0-1 Portsmouth. An Adie Whitbread winner in the last ten minutes.

0-2 (both late second half)

I hope I'm wrong, but I've a feeling Sidwell's latest comments in the EP could have an unsettling effect on the team. I wouldn't normally knock SS, but saying that "if we qualify for Europe it might make me sit up and take notice" didn't sound too clever. There again, it may have been 'expectation management'...

Coppelled Streets Home win, cracking atmosphere, a bell ringing pillock in the away end and an equally annoying drummer in the home end.

 so true!

In 25 years of watching Reading I have never seen us beat Portsmouth and they are usually shite games. The nearest I've seen is a 2-2 draw back in the days of Fatboy Quinn when most of the Pompey side had drink-drive or affray convictions to their name.

We've never had a better chance to beat them. My heart says 2-1 Reading but my head says a 0-0 yawnfest.

No home win for us in this fixture since 1981/82, no goals scored by RFC in any of the last 5 matches played between the sides in Berkshire. Vengeance must be ours on Saturday; good will overcome evil.

Started going to games the season after our last home win.

THe HobNob report of our win at Fratton in 97 makes interesting reading.

Asaba showed some clever touches and even managed to head the ball on a couple of occasions. Martin Williams looked lively and combined well with Meaker on the right

That's gotta be made up, surely.
