Forgot about the Blackburn debacle. He was shocking. Didn't have a clue what he was meant to be doing. Seemed to be playing up front for most of the half.

He looked good as a defensive midfielder in the cup game at Anfield last season but the more I see of him, the more I think his true position is definitely CB. We need a centre back who can carry the ball out from the back instead of launching it long

As much as I can appreciate some of the runs he made with the ball yesterday it's easy to see why Coppell doesn't choose to start him at CB. He just seems to switch off every now and again, there were a couple of moments yesterday where Pompey could have easily had a one-on-one if the right ball had been played. At one point Bikey pushed up leaving Kanu 2-3 yards goal side of him, onside. I don't know if he was trying to play him offside or if he thought he was playing midfield like half the poeple on HNA? There were other moments too and not just from this game, that make me think he can't be a CB long term. He should be a DM but he hasn't shown he can play there to good effect.
so in conclusion, God knows, I suppose our defence can't get any worse than it is currently so he might as well start at the back.

Agreed. He gets himself out of position (even playing right back for a while). Still, as has been said, we can't be choosy at the moment.

After a shaky start today he just grew throughout the match, he showed some real class and it was really good to see him punching the air at the end of the game.

If he can just improve his concentration levels he might turn into a very good player.

100% agree, he just switched off at times today, but he can certainly sort that out.

I like the fact that he is not afraid to show how much he loves playing football. He just needs (and deserves IMO) a proper run in the team to smooth out some of the rough edges.

It's a bit chicken and egg with Bikey, I feel he's still raw defensively, but only with games can he improve that aspect, but then again can we afford these drastic lapses of concentration in the Premiership while he irons them out?

It's a little dilemma for Coppell.

But I like his style, although he played like a drain to begin with and he surely got his backside kicked at half time, he dusted himself down and played with more focus in the 2nd half.

He's still learning and would have learned a lot more today.

one of my favourite reading players at the mo
his weaknesses kept him out when sonks and ivar partnership was good,
but recently they have shown they are easily as bad.
put him in after the acn i say, and give him a run in the side

Bikey does seem to start matches shakily but gradually gets better as the game wears on and looks the business at the back end of games.
He is surely worth a punt. Give him a go Steve.

Worries me that, a bit like Sonko, he seems to have lapses in the thinking department.

He was a liability in the first half and didn't do one thing right, mind you our whole defence was a joke. We could have conceded five by half time which made the draw that much sweeter. Bikey did get better with a couple of nice runs but the game could have been done and dusted by that point.

With Sonko off and Doobs injured I guess Bikey will start with Ivar at Villa? Very worrying indeed.
edit: Bikey's off to Africa isn't he.....doh

Even so, unlikely to give away 3 penalties in 4 games, but if you are already first choice that doesn't seem to matter!

It's a shame he's going to ACN, I reckon he could make one of the CB positions his own with a few starts.

ACN could be a problem.
