Silver Fox I can't believe (well, maybe I can) I saw Robert Fleck in Shooters more times than I saw him on the pitch

Like all clubs we've signed some absolute tossers over the years but none can match this man.

Peter Castle. Centre half who I think made his debut at Watford under Pardew. Big things expected of him but haven't heard of him since

bit harsh to call Steve Brown a 'forgotten man' of the era, he was a pretty decent player for us before his retirement.

Sickboy
ShinPad Does anybody remember a striker we loaned from Chelsea in the early Madejski days? He only played around 5 games but I seem to remember him scoring 4 goals and being a bit of a Hero for a Day!

Anyone remember his name and know what happened to him?

That's Mark Nicholls. I believe he ended up at Hendon. Bizarre really that a player can go from the Premiership to obscurity so quickly.

Was it not (the not actually a striker) Neil Clement?

No mentions yet for Mark McKeever?

Or Keith Jones?

Then there's the incomparable Paul Brayson (or maybe everyone is just desperately wishing they could forget about him?) - the 'striker' who scored fewer goals for us than Ian Richardson from Notts County did.

Mark McKeever was God for a couple of games IIRC, then just disappeared.

Wax Jacket bit harsh to call Steve Brown a 'forgotten man' of the era, he was a pretty decent player for us before his retirement.

The other not so widely known fact about Browns retirement was that Pardew forced him to return to the team too early due to injuries to other players and Brown maintains this caused his knee to pack up sooner than it would have done had his return been postponed in line with the doctors recommendations.

My source is Steve Brown - I had done some work for him just around that time.

Sickboy Andrew Wright was a loanee left winger from Leeds who played about 15mins as a sub. Any one remember Graham Potter actually playing for us aswell? Left winger I think, a tall blonde fella.

Really don't remember him. Strap - which game did he play?

Potter i do remember.

I seem to remember most people on here thinking he'd been brought back too soon at the time.

I'm pretty sure Andy Wright came on as a sub at Millwall. Might have been the 5-0 drubbing we got in or around November 1999.

Didn't we sign an American from Glentoran or somewhere like that? Total donkey, never played that much because he was injured all the time. I had a feeling his name was Jimmy Anderson, but I think I'm mixing the guy up with the well known England cricketer. Had curly hair I think, may have been a defender or 'utility' player.

Good luck guessing his name with a description like that!

Yes, Jimmy Crawford! Thank you, it was beginning to annoy me.

Was he American, or did I dream that bit?

It was Steve Coppell, not Alan Pardew, who forced Steve Brown to play as he was short of bodies in the defence. I think Coppell regretted doing that.

Oh and Jimmy Crawford: Anyone remember him scoring the winner against Bristol City in that game where a Bristol City player whacked the ball into the crowd and got sent off? I think most people will only remember the sending off and quite forgot the result and who scored the winner....

Yep - Gerald Lavin got sent off (and charged by the police IIRC) and Crawford scored the winner late on in a 2-1 win.
