Looks like Little is going to have to find some new friends to talk to after training.

Sidwell gone, Shorey going, Oster gone..........Oh dear Glen.

ElmParker It would take some pretty blinkered vision to see Oster as one of our better players.

He certainly wasn't our worst in every game but the ignorant twats who comprise the boo boys treated him as such!

I'm sorry to see him go. I thought he got better with each match. People didn't give him a chance.

I think Oster was much underrated but with Kebe and Henry at right wing with cost cutting needed realistically only one of Oster or Little was going to get an extension and Oster has missed out.

Good luck John Oster - hope you find a new club easily.

The reason we went down was because we had the likes of Oster as regulars in our team. 2 years ago Hunt, Gunnarsson and Oster couldn't get a game for us in the CCC, now we were relying on guys like this as first team regulars.

He gave his all, but like the majority of the squad he was absolutely not good enough for the league we were in. He'll go to someone either at the bottom end of the CCC or more likely League 1.

Not really. I don't see many CCC clubs queing up for him, maybe a Blackpool or someone like that might look at him.

I kind of meant he's a bit too subtle for League 1 and would be even less likely to shine than in the PL. Maybe...

Oster started less than a 3rd of our league games last season, Hunt was good enough to be a regular for the team that finished 8th in the same division the season before and for Gunnarsson, up to the West Ham game on Boxing Day when he got suspended we weren't great but were actually in the middle of a decent run of form. Thats not to say that a lot of what you say isn't true just that i genuinely don't think its as simple as pointing the finger at a couple of players/positions and saying that was where our problems lay.

As is the case with success, failure is usually the culmination of a great number of things.

His style of game has never been that succesful in the CCC. He had spells at Burnley, Leeds, ourselves, Sunderland, Barnsley?? I think and never really excelled anywhere, apart from Grimsby actually.

Oster was too predictable, yes he could cross a ball which was his primary job, but he couldn't beat eggs! Even our ex Korean export offered us more.

DLC was a good utility player, but found out in games like the Arsenal 4-0 drubbing. We have to look to the future.

I'm not convinced about Kebe, looks like he's gonna break if anyone takes him out, and his touch reminds me of this man:

What, like Kebe? The guy who feels it's OK to strike if he wants away from a club?

Unfortunately you also need to be able to control a football.

Seol is a far more creative player and far more effective player than Oster. Woking Royal posted a video the other day, had at least 5 or 6 Seol assists and 3 Seol goals and he didn't play the full season. Thats far more than Oster who I would suspect had similar if not more games.

When did Kebe ever go on strike and suggest he wanted away from the club? Or have I missed something?

And kick the ball to a player wearing the same clothes as you.

Unlike some, I felt Oster contributed a lot more than many of our players this season. He was one of the few players who had confidence on the ball and actually used it intelligently. That said, I think it is the right time for him to go. He's not getting any younger and I don't think his game is suited to CCC. He certainly looked better in the PL than the CCC. I'd like to know how his wages compared to others, but that may have been another reason to offload him, and surely our future is more likely to lie with younger players like Henry, Kebe (although he'll have to improve a lot on what I've seen so far).

This season we need to add battling grit, not more clever, intricate stuff.

Can't fault the other releases. I wonder if Coppell had already made it clear to the rest of the management that these should be released. I'm sure more dross will be culled soon....
