I'm just a little bit... bored.
I'm not angry, or pissed off with things, I can just see the inevitable demise of our current relative success (well, further demise) - the boredom comes from just watching it slowly ebb away, as we all knew it would from January/February onwards. It's a big shame.
It's not that we've got 'bad' players - there just seems to be a bit of a rot, with the same old tired players playing the same old tired game week in week out - with nothing new or fresh coming into the side at any point. The youth don't seem to be getting a big enough shot either - Ivar's been off his game all season, and Pearce has looked more than adequate when on the pitch - but there's no change there. Yes Kelly and Henry have got some games, but where's Karacan? Until the players know they have to fight for their places they simply won't: Shorey being our prime example of recent times.
On that note, I don't really get the Kebe haters at the moment if I'm honest - he's been the only thing with any energy or excitement whatsoever this season, thus far - he's far from the finished article, but he's the only player that's making me think that 'something might happen' when he gets near the ball in an attacking position. Hunt shows flashes of the same, but with him stuck at left back he's not achieving anything.
We have a manager who says that money's available, a chairman that says he doesn't want to pay for anything (but i the same breath says there's money available). I don't think anyone wants the club to go out and spend millions, though: just a senior-squad left back would be nice - as we don't have a good enough, fit, specialist in that position anywhere in the squad.
Overall though, to go back to my first line - it's just all a bit sluggish - all a bit boring - all a bit mundane. Don't get me wrong, I'm English, which means I enjoy being miserable - it seems to be a national pastime, and I'll still be trudging to the ground on Saturday afternoons when we sink into obscurity in the mid-table of the Championship, with our only excitement the odd flirtation with the playoffs, or relegation positions.
I may well be wrong, who knows, but it's just deathly dull right now. Deathly, deathly dull.
