The first goal was as a result of awful defending granted but that was one of the best finishes I have ever seen. The way he swept it under the keeper along the ground but with enough curl to bend it round him also.

The sad thing is, he's probably our fifth choice Striker if you include Dave Mooney.

PEARCEY
Deathy
Ian Royal Decent finishes, but woeful defending from England.

The finishes don't particularly impress me, though there is nothing wrong with them. What does, is the way Chuch pulls away from his marker for the second to give himself space to receive the ball.

You're hard to please!

The second one needed a great first touch and it was. Then the cool finish. Superb!

The second goal reminded me of Lee Nogan's play off final effort against Bolton.
Ian is hard to please it was a cracking goal.

Might I suggest you dig out the video and refresh your memory then! Absolutely nowhere near as good as Lee Nogan's goal.

By being not at all similar? How bizarre, is it coz he Welsh?

The finishes were decent good quality finishes, nothing more. The impressive thing is the composure and the play to get into the position to receive the ball with space for the second. As I said, the defender assumed he'd go outside and moved that way (before Church even touched the ball), leaving Church acres of room to play the ball inside with his first touch. Straight, I may add, towards the goal.

Ian they were both good goals. I was really impressed with the second one.

Of course he needs to do it regularly for a decent team but it's not a bad start for a 19 year old novice striker in a very big game.

He looks to have a damn sight more potential than some of the donkeys I've seen play in the championship so far this season. If we can keep him, I think he could do well for us.

I never said they weren't good goals. I said the defending was awful and that the impressive thing for me had nothing to do with the finishing and everything to do with the composure and in particular the movement for the second goal.

True but he did look v. good against a decent English team on Friday. Maybe he needs to play for teams of a higher ilk?

Also he apparently played at right wing for Crewe. Maybe we should be looking at his assist record instead?

Terminal Boardom Hope we have a Ramsey hidden somewhere in the academy. He looks a quality little player.

As long as it isn't Gordon [/quote]

Gordon Ramsey was actually a pretty good player and attached to Rangers youth set up until, I think, a double cartilege injury effectively finished his career in football.

Watched Church in several youth/reserve games and think he has potential but is nowhere near first team Championship standard yet. Good to see him score for Wales but he needs to score regularly at Div 1 and Div 2 level - which has not happened yet.

Simon Cox also struggled to score in his first couple of loan spells but is now doing well so time will tell.
