Even though it can change, i can still see it coming down to wolves, brum and reading, and i think its possible to come down to last day, should be around 90 points i reckon.

would be nice if the Reading v Brum game on last day of season is a title decider, if we are both secured auto promotion. Party atmosphere and inflatables everywhere u look

watfordroyal Out of the top 3, I fear it'll be us that drops away into the play-offs bunch.
The transfer window won't affect Wolves or Brum, in fact they'll probably strengthen,
but I think we're gonna suffer disruption & destabling, losing Doyler & SHunt & maybe others.
I predict January seeing a poor points return for us. :(

why do these stupid people keep assuming we will sell doyle. He signed a 3 year deal FFS. Thats gotta mean he wants to play for us. Hunt maybe, but with his brother at the club as well, and 4 irish players, who all get on really well are at the same club, i cant see any of them wanting to leave at the first offer.

I would happily put money on Doyle staying untill at least the end of this season, if not longer.

Doyle signing a new deal just means his price has risen should a good offer come in it doesn't imply much loyalty. Not sure that I am that worried as Copps seems to know rather more about football than I (or any of you lot)

I'd say him saying he was staying was a better indicator than signing a contract.

Halfway through the season now.

14 wins 4 draws 5 losses Goals For 48 Let in 21 46 points.

Job done so far. I think if we can do that in the second half of the season we will be up.

Job definitely done but still 7 points behind Wolves who are on target for exactly 106 points

Amazingly Wolves could match that and lose 8 games, goes to show wins are what matter, not avoiding defeat.

We seemed to tail off quite a lot towards the end of the season, getting a fair few draws, because we realised we'd already won the title and could afford to coast. A couple of injuries towards the end didn't help massively either.

I can't see Wolves maintaining this form to the end of the season. I can see them maintaining it enough to finish top without a great deal of a problem though.

They have been sensational. They remind me a lot of us when we went up. Brum are definitely the ones we should be gunning for but Coppell will just concentrate on winning games.

After 23 games we had 56 points, so we only got 50 in the second half, Coppell out!! PS Ian thats only 3 draws difference

But in the last 15 games we got 8 wins, 6 draws and 1 loss.

Over a season that would be 92pts, 14 less than we actually got.

good old stats, eh, anything can be shown, at the end of it all we had 106, and would have made it with many less, perhaps teams needed the points more than us later on.

The last 6 games we won 4 and drew two, thats 107 over a season

And had we averaged the same goals would have got 130!!

Isn't that exactly what I just implied? :?

6 isn't really statistically significant now is it? And maybe by those games we lifted ourselves with a new target of the points record which had been slipping away from us in the previous 9.

My point is, if Wolves maintain this form for another couple of months, in all probability they won't need to continue to maintain it, so it will slip.

No you implied we took the foot off , as pressure was lower and we did not need the points as much.

3 of the draws came as we almost clinched promotion, home to Wolves and Watford, then away to Leicester, I would put that run down to nerves and realisation of the feat that was to be acheived.

So we will have to agree to disagree.

Fair enough, obviously nerves of finally notching up the winning game would play a part. But it was obvious we were promoted and almost certain we were champions. We'd have had to be spectacularly bad to finish 2nd let alone 3rd.

My original point still stands that the same thing will happen to Wolves. Their form will dip as they get closer to the goal and realise it's all but mathmatically theirs.

I think we can agree that to do as well second half is unlikely, for the reasons we have both highlighted.
