End of the season IMO. bye bye Long, nice chap, nice try. Doesn't have the goods somehow

Don't you dare say SL is a nice chap, you'll be blacklisted by Royal Lady for saying that.

Scoring 1 goal in a game we'd just won doesn't make him worth keeping.

If he goes on a little scoring run and can get to 6 or 7 by February then I'll admit to having spoken too early. But that's not going to happen.

I think we need to give Shane a little slack. With Nhunt not particularly playing well and picking up little injuries I would be tempted to play Long in the Brum game.

I think he's had plenty of slack. He just isn't up to it.

Needed to go on loan last season at the latest. We need someone better. He'll have 'til the end of the season, beacuse we won't get rid of both him and Lita in January. I just have no faith he'll do anymore than he has at any other point.

He had a chance to show what he could do starting earlier in the season and was diabolical. Much like he was poor from the start most times in the previous 2 seasons.

I reckon this goal will give him a real boost. But you could be right. I am not his biggest fan. I'd like to see him do well though.

I just think it's been 3 and a half seasons, it's time (much like with Lita) both parties moved on and tried something new.

I completely agree about Lita. I am still undecided about Long. I am ready to give him until the end of the season. Lita I would definitely sell in January.

Kind of the same, but I'd be wanting someone in when lita goes, which of course pushes Long down the pecking order so he probably wouldn't get another chance anyway.

OS The 21-year-old was asked if he'd ever considered a loan move to get more regular football but he said, "It's never been talked about, no. I'm happy here and when you're happy it shows in how you perform. This squad is going places and I like being part of that."

Ah. Not going to happen, lads.

In that case, he must be in a spiralling pit of depression.

We won't sign a striker in Jan, so Long can't go out on loan.

It's a risk imo, but Coppell done an alright job this season, so I guess we have to trust him.

Yeah -lets loan out our only back up, fit striker.

While we're at it why don't we loan out Henry now Kebe's back, and also Gunnarson.

Geesh, get a grip people. Lita's never gonna get a sniff again - we all know it. Long can't be loaned out. We need him.

IF we had a decent enough back up then by all means - loaning him out would do him the world of good - but we haven't - so NO

amen. as much i dont think he is first choice, after leroy goes and sucks his fingers at norwich full time in january shlong is our next choice, and il be darned if i want us getting caught with our pants down not having sufficient cover should the worst happen and those ahead of him in the pecking order be sidelined.

so no. or, at least, not before january, should sufficient (i.e. better) replacement be found first.

A loan would do him a world of good I feel. His stats aren't great:

19 (61) - 10 (league)
7 (0) - 2 (League Cup)
6 (0) - 1 (FA Cup)

Averages:

0.12 goals/game (league)
0.28 g/g (LC)
0.16 g/g (FA)

source: http://www.soccerbase.com/players_detai ... erid=41355

But he hasn't really had much of a run in the first team... But I remember the games he did get in he didn't impress
