Baines Chairman of football club makes the sort of statement you would expect from a chairman of a football club.

Not really. Not 5 seasons in a row.

We've been trying to win promotion for 5 straight years? Or are you just a thick kunt?

You clearly are.

For the last 5 seasons everything the club does " is a sign of the clubs great ambition"- even when we only sold a handful of players, the fact we didn't lose more was the big sign apparently.

Snowball What is especially nice about this signing is it makes all those
who said we would never spend such money, look more than a bit dumb.

Of course, unlikely they'll apologise.

Nor should they have too, 6.5 million out so far only 2 million in.

What is your problem with SJM?

All I can think is you never stood in the South Bank, having to paddle through an inch of piss to get to the burger van, the main stand had not changed in 40 years and half the away end fenced of as after Bristol ripped it up we couldn't afford to repair it.

Then this man came along with no real intrest in football 'donated' millions to give us a quality stadium which we should be proud of, 2 years in the premiership and stability that 'big' clubs like Newcastle,Pompey to name just 2 of about 60+ could only dream of.

With his 'tight wallet' we will be around for the long haul and with most clubs unsustainable spending in the next few years we will probaly start on 15 more points than most who will be in admin or bust.

I for one would rarther watch Reading for the next 40+ years in the position we are at now than one where we do a Leeds or Newcastle chasing an unobtainable target.

Told you all fees wouldn't be an issue for the right player.

I went to EP plenty, and right side of the bank was my location. There was certainly no part of the away end unavailable when I was going between 95 and the the final game.

Other than that observation it it is indeed a cracking post.

Snowball I think this is a brilliant signing and says an awful lot about
what the club is doing. That is building a side with a good chance
this year and a brilliant chance next year.

We have paid out a million for a very very good manager to bring through
a young side, and now we've got a very good centre-back who could improve for 5-6-7-8 years

I truly believe that Mr (Sir) Madjeski meant what he said and that it will happen this season or next

What is especially nice about this signing is it makes all those
who said we would never spend such money, look more than a bit dumb.

Quite agree! would also be nice to find another striker to give us more options up front, and then the jigsaw is complete. Watch this team grow but hey! don't expect instant promotion, enjoy the slow metamorphosis.

That is totally 100% irrelevant. Sir John has given this club a fantastic structure and a secure future. Just because an immature, financial inept individual such as yourself cannot understand or appreciate that, it does not make him a bad chairman.

You're an idiot mate, taken my comments completely out of context as usual.

Someone stated he donated money for a new ground and I asked a genuine question, I thought it was a lone.

People like you are getting really tedious, no one on the team board is allowed to challenge anything or the RTG's jump up, point the finger and tell us we should make do, be grateful, we're immature, etc

To my knowledge, the stadium was built on loans, no donations and If I have wrongly thought that then I was asking to be corrected, simple. Untie your twisted knickers.

Out of context???

You stop insulting and digging at the man who has got us where we are. It's pathetic.

Add this the possibility of Bikey being sold and we could more or less be back to where we started!

Only thing wrong with Madejski's favourite sound bite is that it would be more accurate to state that the expenditure shows 'the level of our determination.........'

He might well improve but the chances of him being with us for long if he does? Far more likely he will be sold off and a fraction of the fee put back into the improving the squad.

Very few clubs put all of a transfer fee back into signing players. Most clubs make losses just operating, so most of the fee tends to go towards offsetting those losses.

Not to mention a wage bill that at this moment in time is in all probability higher than it was the last time we gained promotion and lost just under £7m over the course of the year. This was despite being virtually sold out from December onwards due to half season ticket sales..

Rodgers and his team didn't come for gratis from Watford either which some people seem to overlook.

I've never quite understood why maximising the sales value of players we transfer out whilst getting in replacements that are cheaper yet with the potential to improve is seen as a bad thing.

So SJM states our ambition is to get promoted back to the Premiership, and he gets slated for it; yet had he NOT said words to that effect, he would ALSO have been slated "no ambition blah blah blah".

For some posters, they are on a permanent win/win.

How pleased would they be if they discovered our next chairman was going to be Mike Ashley?
