Madstad to Nadderud I agree that the players are better than Fleck et al but I feel that RFC have taken a backwards step.

No shit.

Madstad to Nadderud Can someone please tell me what year we are currently living in? Is it me or has the present RFC got a whiff of the Burns era about it? Hmmmm...something tells me that this is going to go wrong with a huge amount of money gained only to be spent/wasted (take your pick) on players who are a last resort. I can still see Mark Riley (correct me if I'm wrong) heading towards the halfway line at Preston only to take the ball back towards the Reading goal without a clue what he was doing. Oh no, the memories are flooding back...sideways passing, hardly any goals, Bristol Rovers and Jamie Cureton and Mark McKeever ( ), several good players sold and nearly Phil Parkinson as well, Mass Sarr falling over most of the time. Is history about to repeat itself?

You can't do these deals that quickly unless you have them planned. This is our plan B. Rasiak and McAnuff are better than Robert Fleck and Andy McLaren.

4 more I'd be surprised with, but this is a step in the right direction. 5 days left - we could have the makings of a decent squad come Tuesday.

Well we already have the Mass Saar equivalent in the the form of the non-footballing Malian plank, now we have Fleck and McLaren stand-ins. Jeez, can it get any bloody worse?!?!

Tommy Burns must be laughing his bloody socks off lookign down on this pantomime!!! Maybe it's his way of getting back at Mr Mad!! Given the "quality" of the signings so far, it is clear Mr mad has been panicked by the reaction of the fans and has told BR to get some bodies in, doen't matter who, just get them in to appease the plebs. Given that the names are ex BR players, it is so obvioulsy a panic attack as to be laughable.

If you remember, Sir Steve's first few signings were panic attacks fomr his previous clubs, (Brooker, Owusu et al), and look how much good that did us. We didn't progress until they'd been shipped out. So hold off the applause guys FFS!!

But all we have heard about is Tommy Smith, Tommy Smith and er, Tommy Smith again. Panic buys? Me thinks so.

At least we're not Watford.

Lost the Manager and by all accounts look like losing 4 or 5 first team players.

Doh!!!

TBF, I said they were a step in the right direction and I referred to Fleck and McLaren in response to the TB2 quote.

There was a lot of discontent on here when we signed Gunnarsson, Hunt, Doyle and Long - the £1m we spent on Lita and the local furore surrounding it masked the fact we spent very little that summer and we went up.

I'm still undecided about our squad and the Rodgers era - I'm a Coppell fan myself. But I'm not ready to write us or BR off just yet and I'm not sure these are panic buys. I think these were both targets fairly early on and perhaps there was a fairly good financial reason for our late involvement in the transfer market.

Thats a fair post 79 Royal. Like you I was a Coppell supporter but Rodgers deserves a proper chance which certainly does not equate to four games. I am not enjoying his decisions to date though. He seems to want to get rid of any experienced player who played under Coppell and that will bring about too much upheaval leaving the club in a state of flux...not wise in my view but time will tell.

He certainly seems to want to stamp his mark on the team from the off and I agree that too many leaving will be a bad thing. However, I expected Hunt, Doyle, Bikey and Harper to leave this summer. Of the four we released, only Hanhemann and Murty (like Coppell, I'm too loyal!) I thought we should have kept hold of.

It would be very suspect if Rosenior and Matejovsky were to go as well though.

FiNeRaIn If/when harper goes it'll be a sad day for RFC. I don't care what anyone says, the guy is a legend in my eyes and you won't find many of his calibre in modern day football. His form last season was poor, he didn't play well at all but the stick people give him on here is frankly laughable. I do think a change for both partys might revitalise his career though.

He is, above all, a 'character'. Good luck to him whatever he does in the future.

Too loyal by far. Change.........strange concept for some and too uncomfortable for many.

If we get four players in AND Harps leaves before the window closes, I will eat my own scrotum. It is just not going to happen.

If we get nearish 2 million for a player who will cost us a fair chunk in wages this year and can go for free in the summer then I think it's decent business for the club.

Harper has been a bloody good servant for the club, always given 100% and been honest and loyal. Sadly though he hasn't had great form for a season or so now and it's time for a change.

As for Rosie and Marek. Again both haven't been brilliant since they came to club, though both have vast potential. Once again they are on good wages and can bring in funds for bringing in hungry players who want a crack at the big time. Thankfully we should now be in a position where we will ONLY sell if we get an offer that very much suits the club and not just the player.

Four still to come sounds exciting, but I'd be happy with maybe 2 more now, and then have a look again in January when we know how the yoof is shaping up.
