NR_Royal Let him go:

1) We can replace him with someone on lower wages

I'm sure we can! We've seen the quality of Madejski's bargain buys - I'm sure Ivar's replacement will be good enough to keep us hovering in the lowere reaches of League One next season!

No doubt Ivar turned the offer down because it comprised a cloth torn to shreds.

floyd__streete Perhaps we will come back in with a better offer.

Pigs really will be cleared for take off if we do!

Not a big fan of Ingi but at the current time I think we need him to stay.

Oh do shut up, you do realise how much we paid for him in the first place and that he'd spent the majority of his career in League 1 and below

At the current time he is staying.

Whether he'll stay in the summer is another question.

Over the years we've seen loads of players go, heard that lots of them are indispensible and promptly forgotten them (OK, Sidwell still hasn't been replaced !)

Ivar has been a superb servant but if he's holding out for (say) a 2 year deal and we are offering him 1 then I'm not sure what will happen. He'd probably have to drop a division to get a longer deal but at his age perhaps the security is his top priority.

winchester_royal More importantly, excellent news that we're in negotiations with Sig already. Don't want anyone stealing a march come Jan.

I think there is no change that Sigurdsson is going to leave Reading. He came through the Reading academy and has been here since he was 15. Just before signing for Reading on an Academy scholarship I remember that Feyenoord offered him a contract but he only wanted to join Reading.

He´s played 13 games this season scoring 3 goals and set up 5 so I think he is enjoying his time here.

Inga is 32, there is no way he is past football at this level. football has changed in favour of players in so many ways, he has no need to accept anything but a bloody good offer, possibly more than he is worth or we can afford, however, he is still a Reading player, and if he does really well he will possibly get a better offer at the end of the seaons, either from us or another at a similar level. of course it could go the other way.

Dont like the way that we are not in December and we are worrying about players leaving next summer, bring back the retained list at the end of the season.

What ?

Seems much better all round for players and clubs to know well in advance what is happening at the end of the season.

And Ivar's age now isn;t the issue, it's his age during his new contract. He'll be 33 at the start of next season so a 2 year deal would take him through to being nearly 35, and I can;t see him being anywhere near a regular starter then.

The issue is that he can directly negotiate terms with other teams in January.

Royalee Let Ingimarsson go, he's our 4th best centre back at the moment and he isn't going to improve.

LOLZ

ok.....

Yes, yes it is. Remind me who's cost us the last 2 goals we've conceded...oh yes, Ingimarsson.

No, it confirms that I'm aware of when a footballer's shelf life has come to an end, unlike some of you goons. I was also able to see this in Duberry and Coppell...I'm sure you protested for both to stay.

Go and look at where strikers are getting chances from and Pearce's record in the team vs Ingimarsson's in terms of goals conceded, then come back and give a worthwhile opinion.

Shame that your view is rather skewed by the fact that we have offered him a extension to his contract, no doubt BR feels he is worth having here.

The fact that he's rejected it would indicate that BR clearly doesn't rate him as highly as some on here...

Does that mean we'll lose O'Dea and Ingimarsson in January? :(
