For fans saying "It's sad that we now rely on teams going into administration"

Really? I'd say it's fair. I feel sorry for their fans, but the term "financial doping" comes to mind. They are above us in the table because they have bought players they don't have the means to buy/pay. That's cheating, so it's right that they are punished. How far ahead of us in the league would they be had they played by the rules?

I imagine that if we'd kept Doyle and Bikey on wages we couldn't afford and turned down the collective £9m or so for them, we'd also be higher in the table. We just played fair instead (Other factors too, but that's another issue).

Terminal Boardom And a huge lol to anyone who thinks that this will save us. Like we will pick up more points than Palace between now and the end of the season.

Quite, they have no money and are in debt but we are shite and have no money! This thread should be titled 'the straw clutching thread.'

How will this affect the winding up order they are facing today?

Considering how well Warnock has done with a (mainly) young team and no money, perhaps we should be considering him as our next manager. He would be right at home here.

Sad that it's come to this, but Palace's plight could help us dramatically. Suddenly, they are only 4 points above us with Moses on his way out and several more likely to follow (I heard they could only muster 3 subs last night). Any ideas about the other key players they are likely to lose?

Jordan's timing is a bit cr*p and Colin is right to be diappointed as selling Moses would have gone a long way to sorting them out, but I suspect they'd need to sell another at a good price (but I don't know the exact numbers involved).

Any advantage would do for us at the moment, so other than a slight sympathy for the fans, it's bring it on.

Unfortunately I don't think anyone else is in line for administration before the end of the season are they (Watford are ok for now, Cardiff will probably be ok if they sell a player (sorry, "asset") or two).

I am hoping that Palace will get put into admin twice for a -20 point deduction.

Moses scored the only (winning) goal at Plymouth

Scored the third versus Ipswich

Scored the equaliser away to Barnsley with a moment of magic

Scored two of Palace's 4 goals at Reading and was the difference between the sides

Scored in the 3-0 win over Watford

He has six goals and two assists in 14 starts and 4 sub appearances..

Take him out, take goal-machine Ambrose out and what's left is a very poor side.

We'll finish above them this season

Into admin, deducted 10 points, sold their best player = 2 comfortable home wins in the space of 4 days. I bet you 10p Palace finish above us this season. And next, for that matter.

You are indeed right. The way we are performing, it will be something of a miracle if we manage to score three goals as a team during a game, let alone have one of our old boys pop up and score a hat trick in under 7 minutes!

The only hope we had of Palace getting really involved in the relegation battle was if they had lost three or four more players before the window closed. Even then they have a way of playing which makes them difficult to beat and also have a little nastiness in their side which we perhaps lack.

Apart from that what I find frustrating is that, for all our moans about our own players, man for man most of our players are just as good as Palace yet if they hadn't had the ten point deduction they would have been only just outside the play offs whereas we are where we are.

I am not advocating we should have tried to get Warnock as Manager but the more I look back to the summer the more I think that we would have been fine if we had appointed an experienced Manager at this level even if it might not have been popular with some of our fans at the time.

If Portsmouth cease to exist in their current format I assume only two will get relegated from the PL and therefore only two will be relegated from the Championship.

Just a thought..

It's a very impressive response from Palace, and it's clear they're being well-run by our old favourite manager.

But making out like the last week suggests they're safe makes as much sense as all the "you're too good to go down" platitudes I received at work after the Liverpool game.

i agree though

colin is bound to use any player sales and uncertainty surrounding the club to galvanise team spirit and get them battling.
i just cant see them folding, just cos they lose moses and a couple of others. that just does not sound like a colin oxf*rd team

Agree again Brendy. They also have the belief in their ability to still be fine given how they've accrued points so far this season.

The difference between a relegation side and a play off side is quite often about how the team starts the season and the confidence and belief of its players on the pitch.

Our players are of a similar quality to most in the Championship. But they just don't have any belief or confidence in their play. They are hesitent and panicky. They make poor choices and because of the mental state don't strike the ball as well as they should.

The other problem we have is our partnerships don't compliment each other in a few places (was a lot of places earlier in the season) and we don't have a settled side.

I reckon you have summed it up perfectly there Ian Royal. Football is so much about confidence and playing without the fear that poor results engender.

This is exactly what is happening to us in front of goal especially. Instead of being confident that they will score as long as they strike the ball well our players are either tentative and snatch at their chances as Karacan did on Saturday or try to be too precise as with McAnuff's chance.

Mind you having seen the shooting in the warm up at Ashton Gate there is some work to be done on technique as well.

I am confident that we are getting more confident.
