North Eaat royal 97 at Elm park we drew 0-0 with Bradford. Worst game I can remember that leaves a memory of being truly shite, although nobody has mentioned the opening game of this season!

The Forest game may have been shite, but it wasn't dull--because it was very fascinating seeing Rodgers' new team and new style. I remember thinking Davies was going to be a mainstay of his side, but he was sent to Wycombe before very long.

The game that immediately springs to mind was the most boring 0-0 draw I have ever seen. Home to Torquay Utd in 1975/76. We had won our previous 12 home league games. They packed the defence and I don't recall a single shot on target in the entire game. Pure tedium.

Reading 0 Hull 0. Last game of the season in 1987/88 which confirmed our relegationto Division 3 just 6 weeks after winning the Simod Cup at Wembley.

Carlisle away 81 0-0 2 days off work for a ten hour round trip, on a freezing Febuary evening......The only consolation was Maurice Evans gave us the players tickets, so at least I didn't pay.

Took my neighbour to one of those Walsall bore-fests; we lost 0:1 and they scored in the first few minutes and we missed the goal as we got stuck in traffic. Needless to say my neighbour never asked to come again ....

Think that was possibly a Kids for a Quid game as I went with about 8 or 9 friends from school (I was 14/15). Think I'm the only one of that group who's ever returned

Wigan away (orange day)

We set out our stall to grind out a result, and did just that.
The highlight for the 5-6000 travelling Royals was the 30 or so Wigan fans who came onto the pitch at the end, wanting to take us all on.

I can't top those Walsall games to be honest. The very definition of mundane.

Highlight for me was spending £0 on the train there and £0 on a match ticket as got a comp from a m8 who supports Wigan.

Reading v Peterborough 11/08/99.
Score 0-0

Official Attendance 4,615.

Freezing cold Worthingtom Cup midweek game, neither side really up for it and both lacking ability.

A midweek game away at Chester in the late 80's (one of their last at Sealand Road before moving to the Deva); got there early so parked in the industrial estate near the ground; then discover no pubs open for the couple of miles i walked looking for one. The game was so dull and boring I can't remember the score (though iirc I think it was a 1-1 draw) and then somehow contrived to be stuck in a traffic jam out of the industrial estate despite there being only about 2000 people at the game. Awful experience.

Most recently the 2006 Prem League game away at Watford; got on 606 to describe it as turgid, and it was rightly the last game shown on MOTD with about 90 seconds of "highlights" followed by no post match comments by Linekar and the boys, just knowing smiles. Simply terrible game of football.

I think we had one chance all game, and Leroy Lita skied it over.

Matches in the 70's were commonly tedious. In recent times, Watford 0-0 06/07, Arsenal 0-4 06/07, Coventry 0-0 08/09. Bolton and Fulham were more annoying/frustrating than tedious. They were too important for that.

donface Grimsby at home, Burns era. Pretty sure it rained the whole game.

We won due to a mishit backpass that went over the keeper with no pressure on the defender at all. It was the only attacking moment I remember in the game.

This a million times. It was absolutely dire.

A second would be the fizzy cup games in the late 90's we had with Peterborough - utter bilge.

Also remember getting beaten at home by Grimsby 2-0 in 95/96, seemed to remember it was dire, or we were awful, not sure which :D

We were terrible. I think a young Jon Oster was playing for Grimsby that game.

Reading 0-0 Welling United, December 1989. First time I ever sat in the (Norfolk Road) stand at EP. All I can recall is being bored, cold and momentarily amused by the linesman slipping over in the mud.
