FiNeRaIn Its a sad day if Reading cannot afford 1 million on a player, it really is.

All Reading are doing is negotiating the price to one they think he is worth.

But it doesn't work like that. If blackburn decide he's worth 1 million and will settle for nothing less, he won't be going anywhere unless someone pays that price. He's easily worth 1 million in this market. Got a good 5 years left ahead of him and showed some quality performances last season.

Yes it does. They want £1m, we want to pay less, we say we are being priced out of the market, they won't budge, we don't buy.

That is still negotiation even if they don't budge on their asking price.

Or are you suggesting we should pay them exactly what they want without negotiating? Is it like a shop where he has a price ticket stuck to his head with a sign on his chest saying "no haggling"?

I would rather get relegated next season than shell out £200 quid towards signing Zurab.

People can give me as much stick as they want, but if we can get enough support to get to a stage where Mr. Madejski notices how much the fans care about the situation then I consider it a success.

We have a fantastic chance of a promotion bid next season if you take into account the last few months of 09-10. We need to continue the progress made during those months and to do that we need our key performers.

That is irrelevant to the point I was making. All I am saying is that these media reports are part of the negotiation process. Whether it has any effect remains to be seen.

Its not really irrelevant, I want the player signed...I don't care how we do it. I completely agree with you on negotiating prices however and my previous post was a bit dumb, I didn't really word it how I could have.

That said, we absolutely 100% have to sign zurab, no excuses from the board. Players with a desire to play for us with his quality do not come around that often at all.

Why, what are you going to do if they fail to sign him for whatever reason? Are you going to scream, scream and scream, stamping your feet at the same time :?:

Well no, we have to sign a CB not necessarily Zurab. Yes he has made comments about wanting to play for us which is good to see (and you hope is genuine and not agent spin) but if Blackburn end up wanting too much for him then we should look elsewhere.

This is a wind up, shirley.

If memory serves, you didn't bother with Watford at home 2 seasons ago because it was a bit cold. At the time, promotion was looking a good bet.

Yet now you want to raise £1m! You've changed.

Yes it is irrelevant. Whether I believe we will sign him makes no difference to the point I am making. How does you "wanting the player signed" make it relevant as to whether the media stories are part of the negotiation process? Your mind works in strange ways........

And we don't have to "absolutely 100% have to sign Zurab" - if the price was £3m would that still be the case in your view? THere are plenty of other central defenders out there and we cannot be held to ransom by the transfer demands of a club.

Your simplistic view is very naive.

I find your views on harper equally simplistic and naive on the bristol city board WR, unless of course thats someone coincidentally with the same name as you....

I made a couple of comments on Harper's ability and in my opinion it is fairly accurate. Here they are:

Here's my verdict on Harper. He played his best football when Sidwell was alongside him and since Sidwell left it appeared that half of Harper had left too.

He plays great sideways passes, he can point alot (the Sheffield United programme actually printed an article on his pointing), he can't tackle, can't jump, and doesn't pose much of an attacking threat.

All that can be yours for £20k per week in wages.

and

That is correct he finally made the "brave" decision to drop him about 2 months before his tenure in charge of us ended. So that was nearly two years of very average football from Mr Harper following the departure of Sidwell......

But is that the only arguement you have to your naive comments? Bringing my comments on a different forum on to this one when they are aimed at opposition fans and are obviously written with that in mind?
