CTFC56 I haven't been through the rest of this thread so I don't know what has been said. The general feeling amongst our fans is disappointment, his vision is top class and loves to play passing football. He has been absent for a few games this season as his tackling sometimes leaves a lot to be desired but he is a quality player and was the heart of our midfield. He wasn't a regular last season in league 2 but this season would be the first name on the team sheet. If he continues to improve at the rate he has done, baring in mind he is still young, you have yourselves a bargain for 300k.

The last player Reading had like that got left out for Jay Tabb. So Akpan's knackered.

Theres a part of me that says Brian is fantastic with younger players. As an ex scout who spotted and helped develop our young stars this is where he shines. Give him a 25year old prima donna who's already the finished article (or so they think) with a big ego and he struggle like anyone. Give him a young Cummings, Morrison, Akpan who's malleable and hungry, and Brian turns them into a Pearce/Karacan/McCarthy/Siggy ....

We may not be too impressed but as far as I'm concerned this is RIGHT up Brian's alley.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB AKPAN!!!!!

Cypry

melonhead - we won't be selling two or three players for millions each (Davies went for £8m iirc)
- if we did there is no evidence at this stage that money would be reinvested wholly in the playing squad
- at this stage there is no evidence that TSI are prepared to make that level of additional investment on top of transfer fees in.

i see the fact that the bloke has happily thrown away millions of his own money every window on transfers since hes been here(including the one where he didnt even own the club yet) over and above any transfer fees coming in, as clear and strong evidence he would happily invest money that we make that doesnt come straight out of his and his investors pockets in the same way.

You do post some cobblers at times (or most of the time) as unpaid spokesperson for RFC.
"Happily thrown away millions of his own money".
He hasn't thrown money away,he has invested a few million quid in a business where within a year or so he will receive many millions for this year's TV money plus a number of years' very handy parachute payments.
What many of us find odd is that he appears not to be prepared to invest some more with the aim of not just getting parachute payments but the masses more that will arise if we were to stay up.

Dear God......

You think the TV money goes into Antons personal bank account? HE will receive nothing....the business will receive the money, and spend it as the business sees fit....if he decides to take a payment (which I very much doubt) then it'll appear in the accounts...

And you accuse others of posting cobblers.....beggars belief....

Take a look back at melon's post and you can see that he refers to "HE".
I am fully aware of how businesses work thank you having been in business probably longer than you have been able to write so before you come over all pedantic have a look at the previous poster's statement first before you start "dear godding" and" beggaring belief".
For HE read TSI,Anton or RFC as the point applies to all three and then comment further if you wish.
As such a pedant I would guess that you are an accountant,a solicitor''s clerk or a civil servant, all worthy professions but liable to pedantry and generally rather boring with a penchant for missing the point and at their happiest commenting on irrelevances.

It will all end in tears when he refuses to travel to Craven Cottage.

Seems like a really nice guy.

Who ever that is asking the questions needs shooting. On the pitch - "You looking forward to playing on it?" and then the dressing room - "You looking forward to it?"

I feel I know so much more about him now.

I think he is a CDM. In the match that I watched online, (2 or 3 mins) he was sitting deeper in attack.

CTFC56?

'Pparently Crawley fans compare him to Scholes, i.e. sit deep and keep possession ticking over/get it out to the wide men. Plus he scores goals. Similar to Sidwell perhaps?

Interesting.

Because he was thrown in so quickly against QPR reserves, it would suggest he is going to be fighting for a first team place.

Seems like we are building quite a few defensive mid options. and I like that you've said he's a 'ticking things over' player because that's what we need.

So assuming L,wood is fit what's the four CM's going to be for West Brom?

I have it on good authority that part of Hope's duties will be to pack fudge for the team. He's apparently quite good at it.

Well don't know why we should slowly ease him into the team. He is highly rated by many people across the country and will only get better with more games. Legs is just going to slowly decline given his age now.

Look at Villa not exactly doing well (but its our idea of doing well in the prem with survival) they have thrown their signings from league 1 straight into the mix.

We have nothing to lose by playing him he is probably not far from Legs if not better.

It hasn't really worked out that well for them, it's not hard to see them sliding into relegation spots. Conceding 15 goals in three outings must have felt like a low point, and losing to Bradford won't have done much to recover their confidence.

Ideal
On 14 April 2012 Akpan was sent off in a game against AFC Wimbledon due to a challenge that broke Jason Prior's leg in two places

Bloody hell! He sounds well hard.

How does the Fair Play Awards System work and what do you get for winning it? Prior to this signing we must be near the top?

TheSiege If he breaks Church's leg in training we'll have a space in the 25 for a footballer!
