Fantastic goal by Henry who had his chance at Reading this season when Kebe was suspended but never took it.

A poor performance at Cardiff in the FA cup ended his seasons chances.

 WOW.
I doubt anyone but Matejovsky could pull off such a strike in our team.
Henry is such a bright prospect - he's just too raw for Sir Steve right now, me thinks.
Give him another season and I can see Henry getting his place ahead of Kebe.

That isn't a one off for him, he scored a very good goal against Stoke as well. I would love to see him play as a second striker, both of his goals have come from the middle, and i think he'd suit that position. Kebe could also then stay on the wing.

Who put in a great performance in the cup against Cardiff?

Convey? Where is he now?

Didn't he also score a couple of hatricks?

Or at least a few goals from there. I don't think it's a natural position for him though.

Memory may be failing but I seem to recall the hat tricks coming from playing down the wings.

brendywendy henry out on loan

reserve RW spot up for grabs

end of

fair play to the lad

he looked alright in the ten minutes of reserve football i saw

I imagine it's more to do with getting him back in amongst better quality players to help his learning curve and to make up the numbers in training.

The club have probably realised that he'll not learn a lot more by playing at that level when he could be back here training every day with players of undoubted quality like Kebe....

How many Reserve games are there coming up? Is it enough to warrant bringing him back to win a place in a meaningless side?

I hope when his loan is up we keep him here and not push him back out again. I suppose this loan will get him back to match sharpness and goals like that will mean Kebe does have a battle for the important run in.

No one put in a good performance against Cardiff but if you are James Henry and getting a few games on the trot under your belt surely you want to impress. Henry went walkabout in the cold that day I expected more.

Convey has been history for two seasons and this also showed against Cardiff.

Henry playing just behind the striker would be excellent imo.

I do think Coppell was talking about Henry and Kelly after the cup game when he said he'd learnt a thing or two about a few of the fringe players.

The problem for Henry on that day, and I'm not wanting to make excuses for him, is that as a winger you rely a lot on your team mates to get you in the game. If your full back or the central midfielders aren't having a good game or they're struggling to get you the ball you're up against it.

Coppell seems to have made up his mind for now though.

READING winger James Henry turned down two Championship clubs to join Millwall because he had seen how much Jay Simpson and Jamie O'Hara benefitted from being at The Den.

The 19-year-old today joined Kenny Jackett's side on loan for a month, following injury to Lewis Grabban.

And he said: "Jay and Jamie have shown how important being here can be for your career. I am looking forward to working with Kenny - he wants me to play as a right-winger and that is my favourite position."

Seemed he could have gone to a champ club.

He's not really impressed in the Championship whilst out on loan before so I guess his level is more League 1 at this stage. A wise move if he gets games, goals and confidence.

Isn't that a little harsh on him ?

He didn't get too much of a look in at Norwich for reasons largely out of his control....

I have seen Henry score a couple of stunners, but never anything that good

He is a very good technical shooter and finisher, but he struggles to hold his composure. A bit like Lita, in a way. It didn't stop him scoring hat tricks, and they'd come from all sorts of positions, out wide, edge of the area, one on one, headers, free kicks.
