Spoke too soon, if this EFL/business plan issue is legit...
Austerity on its way and that never ends well...

Depends what the end game is. Austerity From a government perspective I’d whole heartedly agree. In football terms? I don’t see it as a bad thing.

Where did that rumour even come from? I`ve seen nothing.

its made up, no one has any idea of how the club is going to be run. i guess they are looking at how Wycombe was run.

It's probably a safe bet the club will be run a bit more financial responsibility that under Dai, and that can hardly be a bad thing.

i'd be quite happy for us to never pay a transfer fee again. We have proved you can build competitive teams without spunking loads.

Linden Jones' Tash given we are only being fed scraps of rumours and anonymous briefings, at least the delays only appear to be due to negotiating details of the deal - business is business so that's only to be expected.

Not at all when we've had front row seats to the opposite!

Where 'competitive' means 'can avoid relegation from League One'?

this squad is better than last season's final league table. if we hadn't had a shit start we would have finished top half at least. I'd say finishing top half in any division is competitive, yes. we finished 9 points off a top-half finish.. if selles hadn't oxf*rd around in the first half of the season who knows where we could have finished. we were 7 wins and a draw away from a playoff position. Late November we had won 3 out of 16 and sat bottom.

We'll, we'd have finished 15th without Dai-inflicted points deductions, 15 points clear of the bottom four. That's mid-table, not just avoiding relegation.

Plus the squad proved they were much more capable of that from mid-November onwards. After the Shrewbury game we had 3 wins and 11 losses from 16 games. Over the next 30, we won 13, drew 3 and lost 8, at an average of 1.6 points per game. That form over the season equates to 73-74 points, so on the verge of playoffs.

I don't think we ever have won the Championship without paying a single transfer fee. But we did manage to avoid relegation from League 1 - the question is, is that to be considered as success or not?

Last season, with all the crap going on, point deductions, non-payment of wages etc - yes, absolutely.

This season, assuming the takeover happens soon, no.

You took not a single transfer fee, I took without spending a ton.

I think the first was just hyper bowl. But I may be wrong.

Championship the second time Reading paid undisclosed fees for the likes of Alf, Gorkss and Leigertwood not to mention Roberts in January. The first time they won it they paid for Gunnarsson, Lita, Doyle/Long etc.

Yep, doesn't seem like the type to post something as important as this without quadruple checking with multiple sources.

He hasn't said anything that Dellor didn't say last night or Eddie last week.

Not getting interested until the club posts something.

I'm not going to be counting any chickens until the club's formally announced it, however it's a positive update from a journalist who's usually accurate in their reporting.

Having it done next week would give us enough time to get in a two or three players to help with our depth issues.
