Royal Lady If he's already trained with us, he can't have any current injury problems - so can't see it is the medical that is holding things up. :|

He may be able to train but if he has an under-lying injury that may raise its ugly head in a months time that requires him to be out for a few months - then its a pointless signing, especially considering we can get him for nothing in July

Stranded They only seem to take so long when they are leaked to the media.

A leak is part of the medical test

He had a serious knee injury 18 months ago, so I would guess they have done more in depth tests to make sure he is fully recovered. I would guess that we don't have the equipment for those tests hence why we are "waiting" for results.

I've heard he trained with us yesterday. Seems we're waiting for some medical results.

Fordhams Tweet says held up by medical results, I take that to mean they are waiting for the results to come in, rather than there was a problem. Only a matter of time now. It's also the source that he trained yesterday.

Oh. Has he had a medical? Good.

With hindsight, McD would have been better off keeping schtum on Saturday - particularly as the results of the test have not yet come through.

Unfortunately the Plymouth camp wanted to spill the beans on Saturday anyway. They didn't have to name Reading, but they needed to tell the fans why BWP was missing from their game.

Brian does seem less guarded than some managers we've had. I like it!

Can't see any issues with the medical if he's fine to train and has been match fit for Plymouth for the last year or so

It may have been a way of snuffing interest from other clubs. It was not premature to say that fee and terms have been agreed, pending a medical, because that was exactly the situation. If we appeared to delay it would have encouraged other clubs. We were making sure we were not guzumped by attractive last-minute bids, as happened over Tommy Smith. From the snippets I've read, we are working our trump card, which is that we can put the cash down immediately. It's that which has got us the boy, I'm sure.

We reckon this Tweet from the official RFC account could be to do with BWP at the stadium for photos etc? Year 3 & 4 pupils from Bradfield School are getting the tour of Madejski Stadium today, maybe they will get a chance to see a player or two!

As some have pointed out, he could have underlying problems in the knee that might recur later on. Knees are like that, though you can mask incremental deterioration with injections in the short term. In my opinion, for that money he's worth the risk. If he scores another ten goals this season and Shane does the same, that could be enough to get us up.

What difference would that have made? Plymouth had already named us.......

Oh yeh, completely understand but he's been fine for Plymouth, ever since he signed for em has he not? Surely something would have resurfaced or been picked up in the Plymouth medical? Or am i missing something.

No, he was out at Plymouth for quite a long while at one point. I don't blame Reading for taking their time: it could be argued that we didn't look closely enough at Armstrong and Noel Hunt when we bought them, who have been injured more than they've played.

I think we are just being extra careful after losing Hunt for a year
