Looks like this will be announced tomorrow now.. As usual no noise from the club (more noise from the back side of a fly when it farts) the agent is mouthing off so sorry to be skeptical but he could be trying to get a last minute bidder in....

JimmytheJim Nobody's going to believe me but I just spoke with Royston drenthe 's dad outside the madejski hotel. He confirmed that his son is signing for Reading.

I am extremely excited.
His dad was smoking a cigar and looked about 30.

I can just picture this conversation now...

Jim: Hi there I see you're black.
Man: Erm, yeah.
Jim: So is Drenthe.
Man: Who?
Jim: Royston Drenthe, the guy we're signing.
Man: Oh.
Jim: Seeing as you're black too, and he's probably here, I guess you're a relative. Are you related to him?
Man: Yeah right I must be related. Actually tell you what I'm his dad. Happy?
Jim: Wow! Let me tell HNA!!!

URZZZZZ He has fallen out with managers, been videoed drinking beer while racing his Ferrari, as well as reportedly turning up to training intoxicated. Is this the sort of player we want at the club, or should these past problems overshadow his on-the-field performances

Only video I watched, it looked like a can of coke to me. Not that I was really paying much attention.

I'm hopeful that this will be completed soon but there is only one reason all of this has been leaked to the press, so that the agent can try and drum up other interest. Lets hope that our offer remains the most attractive, it would be the most exciting signing we've made in my lifetime!

You are very young as you clearly don't remember us landing the legend that was Keith Scott .

That's a pretty accurate transcript. Were you there at the time? You must have been that fat bloke who kept waving his willy around mumbling something about 'mcdonut' and 'the bloody country's gone to pot' and so on.

Do we have anyone in the hotel to see if a man carrying a black leather bag with a stethoscope round his neck has turned up yet?

Ian Royal TBH, if you see his dad there, it's kinda overkill asking if Royston's signing. WTF else would daddy be doing there?

Funnily enough, I didn't recognise his dad. Just saw a dreadlocked man standing by an expensive vehicle and thought I'd take the risk of looking a bit racist.

Maybe they'll announce it like:

10 days to go to season ticket renewal deadline...
At no.10 is what our new signing Drenthe will be wearing!

If the contract has been signed, which seems to be the general consensus, it wouldn't matter if barca were interested at this point as he has already committed himself to us surely?

I have a feeling the contract hasn't been signed yet. There does seem to be a certain amount of maybe mistranslation going on round these stories. Some say he has agreed terms, others that he was coming over to discuss terms and finally some saying he has signed already. If he had signed I think the club would have announced it, it may well be that they were waiting to see if the mini bar or bar remained intact today.

I still think there is a chance of a Tommy Smith here so I am not going too excited.
