Royal Lady If he'd done something really awful wouldn't we be within our rights to just terminate his contract?

Yeah. Drugs, alcohol, missing training or games, and any misconduct deemed to impair duty, is breach of contract.

Then maybe there's no truth in it or surely the club would give him a drugs test if they suspected he's been on Charlie?

No, he's constantly coked off his tits. As Munch's photo of him drinking a beer and second-hand story from the Mad-Stad burger van man conclusively confirms.

Interesting comments from people on here. Do any of you have contracts of employment? If so, have you read them?

Only RFC, Royston and his representatives know what clauses appear in his employment contract, but i'm guessing that (as E-P quite rightly points out) posting a photo / video on Instgram of himself smoking something legal isn't behaviour worthy of having a contract terminated!

He may / may not have done things that are in breach of his contract with the club, however, unless it can be proved beyond all reasonable doubt that he has...the club will not sack him / terminate his contract. They'd be on very dodgy ground.

So until both parties can reach an agreement, he's still here and his contract is, quite rightly, being honoured.

Royal Lady Surprised there's no fans with pitchforks demanding his head on a stick after all this "evidence".

 You will continue to champion him until you're blue in the face so what's the point?! All the videos of him fcuked were online at the time & were in fact discussed on here at the time too but people such as yourself continue to brush it under the carpet. I was told by a member of RFC staff that he was banned from travelling with the squad as he had gone AWOL & on the lash in Liverpool during the week leading up to a big away game.

I have no reason to lie about this whatsoever as I don't get a fuzzy feeling from claiming I know stuff.

Your perogative I guess but it was / is abundantly clear that he doesn't look after himself as a professional athlete should. You could see as much when he was completely fcuked & actually fell over on the side line at one of the home matches after a whopping 8 minutes of running.

There is a common denominator in him miserably fcuking failing at every club & under every manager = him.

My boss is a Feyenoord fan incidentally & by all accounts he has been trying to get back to his boyhood club for years now as well. They won't touch him with a 10 foot pole despite him being somewhat of a 'legend' there. Why do you think that is?!

Suggesting that he is absent from the squad because of money is absolutely laughable as well. I know Anton was playing championship manager but he's hardly going to sign off large appearance fees for someone who was for all intents & purposes a footballing exile, no matter how much we all dislike what he's done to the club, he wasn't a complete fcuking idiot. Furthermore, whatever sort of deal Drenthe is on, Pog can't be far behind yet he is a full part of the team.

Lol at the E-P/RL double team. Dunno why you guys are bothering, you could tell them a square has edges and they'd still find a way to refute it.

In E-P's case I think it's just to be contrary.

In RL's I'm sure she'd have been the first to have convicted him if he was poor.

Royston just posted a photo of himself in a car dealership with the caption "Good news means be nice for yourself"

An Audi garage has taken him on as a salesman perhaps?

I will continue to not believe all of these stories because if they were all true, he'd be long gone as we would have terminated his contract. I know he smokes and I know he drinks - now whether he does that before a game, I have no idea - but some of the stories about him are pure hearsay "a mate said", "someone I know at the club reckons" etc. It would be pretty easy to prove breach of contract and get rid of him, the fact that they haven't suggests to me that he's just out of favour and doesn't actually eat little babies ffs. If Adkins has chosen not to play him, fair enough, but I'm pretty sure having him on the bench would give him more a reason to at least try and make it work, than banishing him to training with U21s with no chance of a competitive game.

Spoke to someone at the match yesterday who has a family member working at the club - apparently the imminent new owners want Drenthe to stay. If so I hope this isn't another case of excessive interference from the ownership against the manager.

Not sure why they would want him to stay when they almost certainly haven't even seen him play.

Ftr, not being contrary - don't even rate the guy - just interested in what people are basing their accusations on.

Huge ad hominem shirty essays in response or ignoring the question entirely tell me folk aren't overly confident in their evidence.

Nothing to fall out about, just won't be basing my opinion on whether Drenthe is guilty of misconduct on conjecture and rumour.

Just give him a squad number, given the injury crisis an extra pair of legs can't be too bad considering we're paying his wages either way
