If teams like Sunderland, Ipswich, Pompey and Burton cannot get promoted from L1, we got no oxf*rd chance after we get related and lose players like Cabral, Swift, Rino etc

His interview after the game really pissed me off.

He's on cuckoo land if he thinks we were solid today.

Some teams fell to league 2. Like Bolton and Coventry, Burton and Portsmouth. Wigan almost did last season. The same could happen to us.

Stranded Swift will simply be thinking, play as well as I can and see who wants me in the summer and we should benefit from that now.

Swift is out of contract next summer though. We won't benefit but he will.

Think we will benefit in the short term as Swift is currently shop-windowing to get the best move in Jan/next summer (unless he intends to put in a transfer request before the window slams shut).

Wouldn't blame Swift if he handed a transfer request in tomorrow

As bad as it would be, I’d take languishing for a bit. What I’m more concerned with is having a club to support in the long run. And I don’t trust Dai not to do the same to us as he did to the Belgian club

I like Pauno and he’s been dealt a poor hand but we need a manager like Warnock right now. Someone who can organise the defence and mould a team out of what we have. I don’t believe that Pauno is capable of this. Take away the start to last season and his record isn’t good.

Jimmy Floyd could possibly be the answer but not sure if anyone would want to come here right now. I just want to go to a game and see some hope for the future but right now it’s a fcuking shambles.

You have such a small club mentality don't you Ian

Trying to play big time charlie has put us in this mess.

Stability works.
Scapegoating managers left right and centre doesn't.

Be nice to sort a problem out for a change, rather than just creating new ones.

Seen League One, it's not so bad.

You won't say that if we are about to go bust due to a big revenue drop and low crowds.

This is what I've been warning you all about for years. Over spending, poor management and consistent poor performance.

Orrr....we hire another loser to be around for six months before getting sacked...Hughton up next?

leon Anyone who thinks getting relegated to Division One wouldn’t be a potentially devastating situation needs their head examined.

This 100% just look at how many teams have gone down to league one and never recovered or languished in the league for years.

Less revenue, less coverage, lower attendances, less sponsorship revenue, less secondary spend etc I don’t think we will go down but we must avoid league one at all costs

At all costs is what has put us up shit creek.

It looks very strongly that Pauno is taking us down. I think we’re playing the wrong football at the wrong time with the wrong players. Slow, not direct enough, mentally weak and absolutely no leadership. But then you could say that about every team in the last 5 years.

The squad is wafer thin but we’ve still got enough to do better than we are. But we can’t just keep sacking managers.

I really hope by Cardiff he’s sorted things out, otherwise he’ll probably be gone.

Yeah the whole attitude about relegation not being the worst thing, and a lot of teams bounce back, is worrying. It’s very blasé and a bit naive. No reason to think we wouldn’t languish in League one or even lower. Our fan base is still quite small for the championship and our revenue is pretty feeble too.

FFP In League 1 clubs can spend a maximum of 60% of their turnover on wages…..

Should be less of a problem when we lose all the out of contract players, might even convince Moore to oxf*rd off and take his millstone from around our neck a season early.

Without money to spend shows that the current generation of managers aren't team builders. The Warnock's of this world are a dying breed. As owners chase the riches and esteem of the Premier League. Manager turnover has come finally home to roost.

Was a honeymoon period built on Bowen's team. Nor were the performances weren't as great as the results suggest. Certainly had an an element of good fortune. That was levelled out over the remainder of the season.

I don't think a new manager is the answer to our problems. Yes we've been very bad but I don't think anyone could come in and turn it around in time..May as well stick with Pauno. Yes he struggles to make subs and def has been bad this season but I dont think it's realistic to think that 1) we could get a better manager and 2) they would do a better job. Pauno is the best option we have.. I have faith that he wil address our issues, but I did find his post match comments today slightly concerning...we weren't good and didn't deserve anything.

Well a “spell” in the third division won’t fix that. No matter what you think/bore everyone about consistently.

Hughton has a better record than any of our previous managers barring maybe Sir Steve, I would be well pleased with him

Pauno was in my mind on VERY dodgy ground before this season and I'm very undecided about him after the catastrophic run from 7pts clear of 2nd place to 7pts off the playoffs. Either his first few games last season were honeymoon luck or the rest of the season was just inexplicable weirdness. And don't even start talking injuries and other excuses.

BUT it's not right to get rid of him this season any more than it was last season.

I feel the situation now is sadly a bit like Brexit - proponents of Brexit can always hide behind covid as the reason for our demise, and Paunophiles can always hide behind the financial situation.

He can only do his best, which is of not much use to Reading FC but it is what it is.

Given the shit the club is in, we have bigger fish to fry than whether or not he's the right man to take us into the PL. He's here. he's trying hard, I agree that with everything else going on stability is probably the most important thing, even though my hunch is he's out of his depth here and the first few games were a lucky honeymoon patch with a very good squad and Joao hitting form.

We're just going to have to grin and bear it. My guess is we'll bumble along with him teetering on the edge of relegation but on balance not blame him for it and so this season will be a writeoff. At some point we'll be allowed to get players and we'll decide what we think but that may be in the champ or L1. There's not much fun to be had this season either way

BUT I've decided to enjoy it as our academy lads get a good go.
