Tom Mac 50/50 Hutch not available- why i don`t now, assuming still injured, Sarr still not ready. Moore another 4 weeks, Dann should be get a run out with the U23s next week. Azeez should be involved. Lumley fit.
So much for the WC break to get everybody fit again

I think both TMac and Hutch are calf issues, which would go alongside what Ince was mentioning the other day. So that's 5 of our senior CB's potentially out of this game (4 minimum) after we've had a few weeks to get some players back up to speed.

Looks like the back 3 for Saturday will be Yiadom, Holmes and Mbengue with Hoilett and Rahman likely to be at wing back.

To be fair, Sarr is the only one you'd not automatically expect a set back and he was always not that close.

McIntyre is a perpetual injury worry. Dann is ancient and Moore has been collecting injury concerns like top trumps for about 4 years.

Holmes is obviously a pretty big loss but with Sarr, Hutchinson and TMac* coming back in, at least it seems like we've got some numbers there. Not holding my breath about keeping them all fit until the New Year though.

We can afford the odd knock when we have everybody fit, we just can't really afford 2/3 at a time.

Hutch and Holmes have plenty of time for Swansea at home then along with Dann as well, so that looks more promising and then whoever picks up an injury during that time.

Selection will always been done based off reasons we don't know. I'm sure Sarr will start for his aerial ability, but wouldn't be massively surprised because he's played what, 2 games and about 20 minutes in 6 months? Not including friendlies (however many he played in) and any U21 games he's featured in. He didn't get a pre-season with us and was injured almost immediately as well, so he probably does need to get up to speed.

It will be Yiadom - Mbengue - Sarr I think, think TMac might drop to the bench for this one.

You are aware that we are 8th? It can’t be that bad a formation. There was a period where it looked a little stale but it’s done us good on the whole. That team looks remarkably similar to the last few seasons’ failures of being too narrow (Ince and Meite would spent a fair portion of the game tucked in)

Also, you’re aware that team is virtually the exact same as what we’ve been doing, with the exception of Hutch pushing up. I’d question how that makes us more creative. Infact losing Hoilett would probably reduce how much we create

I don't think that will be far away from the starting line up when Hutchinson is back but I do like Mbengue and would like to see him involved.

I'd be a bit reluctant to change what has been a successful system and formation for us all season. I think we have the personnel available to play the way we do and, whilst I don't think it should be our long-term way of playing, in the current climate let's stick with what works and continue to build some consistency rather than start chopping and changing. We can experiment if/when we get safe.

That's the only issue I've ever got with having options, a good scenario to have selection headaches and changing how we can play, but if we start chopping and changing because something doesn't quite work one game, we will end up with confusing messages being addressed to the players and a lack of consistency. For our faults this season, we cannot complain about a lack of consistency with how we play.

I think the most important factor for me is finding that balance between consistency and changing it and understanding when to do so.
