"The Team" board = reactionary nonsense week in, week out.

absolute load of rubbish, 'greed. only worth posting on to poke fun at all the over-serious regulars and their "Reading till I die" mentality. Wherther or not RFC are any good doesn't really depend on whether a guy from Woodcote agrees with a guy from Lower Earley about a bet he's placed.

And with that, back to AE.
Hah! As though all that smug chumminess and snide one-upmanship that passes for conversation on AE is any better. On a Reading FC forum, who could possibly object to RFC fans dishing it back and forth on the merits of their club. AE is for people who think "social networking" is really a form of social networking.

why don't you take that argument to AE you spineless charlatan?

Huntley & Palmer
Woodcote Royal
Huntley & Palmer Woodcote just goes to prove with this post, the hugely fickle nature of our support.

Of course fans are fickle but this thread is about making progress and it's blatently obvious that we've made loads in the last month regardless of what you me or anyone else may have said in the recent past.

If we define progress as a single away win, then God help us. The team looks a little more settled now, which is great. The main problem is that we are only 9 games into the season, so all of this is pretty much older men posturing that should know better

what about the home wins
what about the new, written off players looking very good
what about the new found balance to the team
what about the belief and confidence that has flowed from our superb home form
what about only being 5 points off the top spot when weve only won one away game
what about the yoof coming through
what about looking like having a better home average attandance than the year we went up

so much more than a single away win that is defining our progress as we speak

agree about the posturing though

oxf*rd grow up - Schards actually doesn't give a toss what you think, and you're not impressing anyone by stalking him here there and everywhere over the fact that he has different opinions to you about certain things. Have a word with yourself.

So why is that on pretty much EVERY thread, whether it's on the Team Board, Anything Else, General Football or wherever, Schards is in an argument with one poster or another, so much so that it usually descends into a slanging match.

I'm sorry, but the guy is clearly very opinionated and loves an argument (which is fine BTW). However, he has to take it on the chin when he gets it wrong, because he's not shy in dishing it out. Live by the sword, die by the sword as they say.

As for the debate itself. Clearly the answer lies somewhere in the middle. We were never going to walk this league, at the same time we were never going to get relegated. I always thought playoffs at least was a very realistic target bearing in mind we only lost a few players (and because this league is pony). That happens to be exactly where we're sitting now (and have been for most of the season so far).

I am one of those who have got into arguments with Schards on AE. I think he does enjoy it (fair enough).Even when it gets feisty.

I'll stick up for him here though. I know that he cares deeply about RFC and I'm sure he'd readily give up a hundred quid if it meant us getting top six/promotion. People like him (and Floyd and AP who I admit pissed me off last season with their anti Coppell stuff) at least go to the games. I think FS and AP go to them all(?) home and away. So they clearly do care in reality.

defining progress is all very well

but one also needs to assess the exact starting position on is coming from

and those who were slagging the team prematurely-kebe a pub player-midfield non existent-strikers lacking confidence and touch-going no where-lucky to be midtable-no chance of promotion- etc clearly thought we were just appalling-
& now we are not
that is progress, however its defined

No one gets everything right but it's Schards capacity to defend the defensible that's set him apart from most.

Bugger, that irony meter had only just come back from repair too.

Am I missing something here?

If something is defensible, you can defend it.

And that, my Team board chums, is a post-change of such skill and invention that it could only have been crafted by a long-term student of AE.

Seriously, this is all brilliant and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Let's reapproach this when May comes, then we can see where the progress has been made. All of this talk is just as knee jerk as those that believed there was no progress to be made.

Woodcote Royal
Uke They're unreliable buggers too, you can never get a really clear reading

LOL @ Woodcote blaming Schards for "defending the defensible"

Nice pictures any evidence?

Only in your own post

Woodcote Royal
Denver Royal LOL at Woodcote and Rother giving it large. As if they have never been wrong. :P

No one gets everything right but it's Schards capacity to defend the defensible that's set him apart from most.

Many of us wanted Coppell out when he was still favouring the players who failed last season (and I still blame him for last season's relegation) but if it was hard to see any progress taking place a few weeks ago, that clearly isn't the case now..........................anyone who denies this will look silly and childish.

I refer you to RL's last post for an explanation

I'm afraid that any long-term student of AE would know that post-changing is the lowest form of wit.

i wasnt disagreeing with that
just with the assertion that our"progress" was based on a single away win.
