Zip Pauno deserves more time and has been horribly unlucky with injuries. To lose our top scorers to serious injury inside the second League game of the season is ridiculous. I feel it's going against him and don't think he is going to be able to turn things around. It just feels like we are a club going in the wrong direction.

Wrong direction? I mean we’ll definitely do worse than last year but that’s to be expected after losing Olise and Richards, then having hideous luck with Ejaria, Meite and Joao

Wage bill is right down and will be down even further after this year. Youth Teamers coming through and hopefully some sort of control over transfers and wages now

What would right direction be at this stage in your opinion?

I do think we need to be realistic and see where we are at. It’s going to be a struggle until this we see the back of Moore and this seasons high earners imo. Then a year or two at least to rebuild. If we can stay champ in that period I think we’ve done ok

We are a club whose trajectory was on the rise during the naughties. Then it was probably static in the tenties. Now our star is falling. If and its a very big if we can stabilise financially and remain at this level then all good. However if we are relegated either this season or net that downward spiral continues.

tmesis Comparisons with Chicago don't really work as they have an entirely different transfer system over there, mainly based on swapping players and getting preferential youth picks if your team is bad.

The positives - based squarely on the two home games I've attended - I like the way he has got us attacking. It's not all tippy-tappy wait, wait, wait like we've been bored with for years. He's got us playing some good pass & move stuff around the box, to play players into positions. For the first time in years, I can see how we intend to create chances.

The bad - defensively it all looks poor, and the midfield can get dominated all too easily, and we have worrying spells where we can't string two passes together when that happens.

Things beyond Pauno's control - the financial shitshow leaving us with an unbalanced and paper thin squad, that's being hit by injuries to key players. Certainly how Pauno has done recently is no better than what Bowen was seemingly sacked for. Not that we should be sacking managers anywhere near as quickly.

I would ask would we really expect another manager to do better? Who was the last manager we apppointed who you think would do better given this squad? Why would you expect the next manager to be any better than any of the recent ones?

Good managers are rare in any club's history, and very few of them get it right after one year. Most take two or three years to really make their mark. It just seems to be the way now that people believe sacking the manager will fix everything, ignoring all the underlying problems elsewhere. It's not exactly worked out for us in recent years, with Pauno being our eighth full time manager since McDermott got sacked.

I think Bowen would have us better organised at the back by now, but other than that you're going back to McDermott 2, Adkins, Coppell, Pardew.

Which tells a tale in the quality of managers available to us and entrusted with the job by the current owners.

Pauno seemed to have us set up more defensively at the start of last season with Rino and Laurent literally sitting in front of the back four and not pushing forward. We need to back to that. Start looking to keep things tight and try and keep some clean sheets.

Not a bad idea but at the moment apart from Swift we have nothing going forward. I just worry that we’ll end up having to absorb more and more pressure. We no longer have the attacking options of last year.

Harsh on Azeez. Puscas did alright against Cov and we've got Hoilett plus Ejaria soon.

0-0 is also better than 2-3 or 1-2

Give him time IMO, till the festive period. It is still early in the season and we have no recognized front man.

I just don’t think changing managers all the time gives any stability and so would prefer Paul stays this season. But the owners have so far been far less patient than the fans and so in all likelihood he will be gone by Christmas.

I haven’t read it but I heard that Liam Moore did an interview for the Sun which was published last Saturday. I think he was talking about FFP and expressing his support for the manager. It sounds like the players are still behind Pauno, which is a positive.

This is the problem isn't it. No faith at all in them picking a suitable replacement.

If you did the same for Bowen I reckon it would skew further.

Speaking of which, there's one sacked manager on that list that sticks out like a sore thumb.
