Sarah Star We missed him down the right wing when he went off. I don't think it's any coincidence that Burnley scored not long afterwards.

Fine, fine, I'll just go and ask some other people who give me a sensible answer.

I think most sensible people would also confirm that 11 >>> 10.

Then how come not all teams concede goals when playing with ten men?

I think it was to do with our playing style. Even after Kebe went off we were still going forward looking for more goals, a point referred to by Steve Coppell after the game, and inevitably that left gaps with only 10 men. Usually teams down to 10 men withdraw into defence and that is why they do not concede

a number of classics on this thread but i may as well begin with that one

Kebe is a good player and you are going to see performances like that all season, some of the people on this site need to form an opinion themselves instead of following others

Notable mentions so far

Joe999 - this guy is comedy gold on here “hes absolute oxf*rd”

Alan Patridge “Nah it's ok, you can't help but LOL when Kebe gets the ball. We need a laugh if nothing else this season.”

Fine rain “Why is he wearing a reading shirt? The guy is an absolute joke.”

Chilitspill “A hearty LOL at this thread” hearty indeed

Cmonurz “I am signing in because I do not think Jimmy Kebe is a good player.
Thanks.” Noooo thank you , awww it’s the taking part that counts

Scarface “Where are all the RTG's that thought Kebe was going to be good this season, based on a few good friendly performances ?"
What were you basing your opinion on?

Smokingkills dancing doe “What a terrible player.”

Trev “In answer to the question, Jimmy Kebe is a good player............NOT!" lol see what you did there trev classic mate go on tour

Howser = mocking faces etc

Yes yes its one game but he showed he had the skills…… I think you all realise he is going to be a great player for us this season (at least I hope you do)

lets get this back on track

whos left out of these lot? Even straps gone quiet

Don't get me wrong, I think he's brilliant, I love him, but there were a couple of occasions yesterday when he could have put a player though (Doyle at least once) but clearly wanted to get on the scoresheet himself. Don't care if he made two of the goals, he should have passed it on those two occasions. I just don't think two assists waives the obligation to pass.

Kebe clearly had the potential, but he was a big extravagance in a team low on confidence and ideas. Especially given his early bambi on ice style.

I'll hold my hands up and say I didn't think he'd show himself to be any good. I knew he could be good, I just didn't see much chance of him realising his potential. He's convinced me at this level. Although lets not get carried away. He's still only performed in half a dozen games.

I remain unconvinced on his top flight potential. I think premier quality players may well be able to force him off the ball to easily, or just let him run into them and bouce off. But I'm cautiously optimistic now and I'm confident he can crucify Championship defences if he can maintain his recent form.

If Kebe plays a major role in getting us promoted but can't cut it in the prem, he'd still have been outstanding value.

I agree. And even if he does prove too light weight and unreliable for the prem, he'd make a good back up player. He didn't produce anything last season, but he did bring a drive and energy to the team which was lacking whenever he came on as a sub.

Without reading 27 pages, has anyone mentioned that we could substitute the words Jimmy Kebe Kebe for Johnny Reggae Reggae in the song of the same name.

Instead of "lay on me" or whatever the words are, we can have "play for me".

And I think he's excellent - needs a bit of polishing, but is a raw talent as I've mentioned before and can only get better with confidence and a bit of coaching from Sir Steve.

juanpablo the whole midfield and forward line were bad

imo he played better than Harper and Convey but then it really isnt saying much

poor from everything north of the defence

I stand by my comment. If you re read your own post it says that Kebe was rubbish (which seems to contradict your erstwhile opinion). More importantly it also says that the whole team was rubbish.

Since it isn't true (in my opinion) that the team was rubbish and that Kebe was the best of a bad bunch I'll sleep comfortable on my opinion. If you check out my other comments you'll see that I do not believe that either Kebe nor Harper are rubbish players. For what it is worth I rate them both.

'greed

I can see him cutting it in the Prem though as he has pace and that's a mjor factor nowadays.

Reading between the lines:

'I was wrong earlier so i have moved the boundaries, so my new rules are unless he rips apart the epl then my predictions would had been rightish..'

I am so fed up with people not sticking to their words, whether or not Jimmie is a good player, thats not the point but we are in the ccc and moving the goalposts is a bad trait imo.

Before you start, i had jimmy as a pacey winger with tricks, but imo he was more pacey than the others i had seen & i said that last season.

Even tho most people slag off the Readingfc transfer policy, but without playing football manager RFC are one of the best at buying players that are worth more......

Deep sigh. I haven't read the preceding 27 pages either, but if other precedents are anything to go by, Kebe might just become the Silver Surfer, given that we already have a a Superman and a Spiderman. Unless anyone else has a better character to use.

Kébé is Kébé. Péle was just Péle, and so Kébé will just be Kébé.
