That's damn funny.

Feel a bit embarrassed for old Harps, but he can still do a job for us so maybe it will all work out in the end.

My god, to be fair to Harps, I think Mick's overreacting to the statement somewhat. It sounds like he was doing nothing more than being honest and I don't think he lets anything 'out the bag' or is in anyway insulting about Mick. He's merely expressing that Mick had concerns and he (Harps) disagrees and hopes to prove him wrong.

Am I the only one who thought he was just being honest and balanced in his interview? More upset with Reading than anyone.

Happy not to see him go, even though I agree it's probably time for him to move on given the current side. Though if we signed another Sidwell to play alongside and Harps will be great again.

The way Rodgers talks about Harper - he won't be a first choice going forward....and the fact that Harper needs to be "loved" means that he will be one unhappy bunny if he stays!

Barry the bird boggler
SymonsO Harper won't go to wolves, he has talked himself out of the move according to an interview with McCarthy.

Said he didnt appreciate harper going public and if he wants to prove him wrong then fine but it doesnt look like it will go any further.

Quite true, from the Wolverhampton Express and Star...

Harper could have put pay to move
Reading midfielder James Harper could have talked himself out of a last-minute move to Wolves next week.

The 29-year-old target was poised to join his former team-mate Kevin Doyle at Molineux, until Wolves boss Mick McCarthy raised concerns about a groin injury.

But the Premier League club are still keeping a watching brief on Harper with a view to making a final decision before Tuesday’s transfer deadline – but the player’s public swipe at McCarthy’s decision has all but crushed his chances of the deal being resurrected.

The Wolves boss said: “It’s right what James Harper has said. I did think there would be an issue over his fitness, I did go and watch him play after that – and he played very well.

“But if I am going to make a mistake, I’d rather make it at this stage than when we have taken him on contract and he is not available to us. Such is life in the big city.

“If the lad wants to prove me wrong, good luck to him. I’ve no problem with that. Will I re-visit it? Put it like this – there’s a darn sight less chance now that he has gone public over what I consider to be private and confidential discussions.

“You should do your talking on the pitch and not through the newspapers.”

In yesterday’s Express & Star, Harper questioned McCarthy’s decision to pull the plug on the proposed £2million deal.

He said: “I respect his decision, but I don’t agree with it. I was just recovering from a groin injury and when Mick looked at the scans he told me I wouldn’t be ready. I think he is wrong.

“Since then he has been to the Madejski Stadium to watch me play and I hope my performance demonstrated that I can do a job.”

What a goon. I hope he enjoys himself rotting in the reserves now McCarthy doesn't want him as well as Rodgers.

Big Mick is a miserable little so and so at the best of times. Honestly I wouldn't wish him on Harper or anyone for that matter, is Mick ever fecking happy? :D

Maybe this is the problem

I was just recovering from a groin injury and when Mick looked at the scans he told me I wouldn’t be ready. I think he is wrong.

I wouldn't like it made public if I'd been studying scans of Harper's groin.

Looks like Harper has shit in his bed with his comments about McCarthy - Wolves have just signed some foreigner who plays centre midfield - on a season long loan ...where now for him.???..because he isnt in Rodgers plans

Why would any of those clubs want him if he can't get in our side? :?

You could equally apply that question as to why any club brought Hunt, Bikey ??? and why Sparta Prague are sniffing around Marek - he obviously doesnt fit in with the way Rodgers is planning to take team forward - doesnt necessarily mean that he can't do a job for another team - just not sure which team!

Marek, Hunt and Bikey have potential to be top players on their day - Harper doesn't! Every time I hear figures like £2M being bandied about for him, I say 'bite their hand off'!

I would rather keep Harper. Good midfielder at this level and excellent experience to have in the squad.

He's certainly got the potential to be a top player. When he's playing well, he's the one who doesn't get the headlines but creates the conditions that allow others to be match-winners. A vital part of a team, which is what it's all about - it's not just individuals.
