Southampton will let Billy Sharp go on loan - if Leeds, Doncaster, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday or Ipswich pay all his wages.

Are we sharing him then?

If he's above Pog in the pecking order then 20k a week is a snip is it not?

That's probably over the odds.

I'll say - for a striker who failed miserably at Sheffield United. We move on.

Agree. I'd rather see Ugwu given an opportunity. Who knows, he could be that missing striker and all that money saved could be used to bring down the price of hot dogs in the concourses.

Don't you think the 59 goals in 127 Championship appearances since then might suggest that the 51 games for Sheffield United were the aberration rather than the norm?

Make of this what you will but my friend who works at the Dome said that he and a couple of others working there on Monday night saw Billy Sharp leaving the hotel at just after 11pm.

He would have no reason to lie as he doesn't even support Reading but thought he'd tell me because i do.

So we were obviously trying to do something to get him. Maybe expect us to get him in on loan?

First off all why would there have been 3 people working at the Dome at 11pm at night ?

And secondly how can you see who is coming and going from the hotel at that distance, in the dark ?

As for a reason to lie - well maybe he's just winding you up !

The last slot is 10-11pm.

Don't know why 3 of them were there. But why would he wind me up? It wasn't even as if i asked if he'd seen anything that night.

I asked how would they be able to tell from the Dome as it could have been anyone, but they were just going past the hotel at the time. He saw Billy Sharp with 2 big blokes with him just leaving.

I'd be more than happy to see Billy Sharp come in, he'd certainly score more goals than the current crock of shit we play. For a start, he actually shoots...

Chronicle strongly linking us with Sharp again today. Understands a deal may be close, says Chronic.

The Post now running the story too.

Apparently, paying a large portion of his 18k wages could be an issue? I think say 10k for 12 weeks is worth the risk on this one - get him in!

Exactly. Sharp is probably the only experienced proven striker we can still get on loan so as usual the club are quibbling over things and before you know it he'll have gone to Forest or someone else on loan....

I have to say that the financial position of the club looks increasingly odd. We had 30 first team players at the end of last season. We sold/released 8 and loaned out 2 more on season loans. This has saved millions in wages. We received 5M for Kebe and Mariappa and have only brought in 3 new players and yet we are apparently concerned about affording 18K a week for 13 weeks (emergency loan term). That is just £234,000 for a player that could really make a difference. Then we can think again in January.

Surely we should be snapping Southampton's hand off at that price before someone else does.

If true, it is a worrying situation. If we signed a player like Sharp we'd have to pay those kind of wages so you why are they are stumbling block in a loan deal?
