IMO we've definitely lost him if Dai doesn't sell, Desperately hope that a sale goes through, we can make him a decent offer and he decides it's better to stick with the devil he knows (maybe his brother's experiences will influence that). I think Selles staying as manager would also be critical, after all the faith he has displayed in Femi, which seems to have created a really strong bond between them.

Aaron Creswell had made 70 or so league appearances for Tranmere Rovers when, aged 21, he rejected a new long term contract offer. He signed for the Championship club Ipswich Town on a three year contract.
The PFCC decided that Ipswich Town should pay Tranmere Rovers an initial compensation fee of £240,000.
An additional £45,000 was ordered in respect of the player making 15, 30, 45 and 60 appearances for Ipswich Town.
An additional £100,000 was ordered should Ipswich Town achieve promotion to the Premier League in the next 3 seasons.
Tranmere Rovers are to receive 20% of any profit made by Ipswich Town in selling the player to another club at any point in the future.

Well, if that's a precedent, it's no surprise we held out rather than letting him be sold for a pittance in January.

I don't think it is - Luton have gone out and smartly improved their squad with players that fit their style of play - Sheffield lost two of their key players and spent a lot of money on not very good players.

Apart from a brief 3/4 month resurgence at Boro, Wilder has been a serial loser for about 4 years straight now. Appreciate that a fair amount of that was at a poor Sheffield side but conceding 5 goals in 4 successive home games is unacceptable at any level. Wasn’t that fussed he didn’t end up here last summer

Agree with much of the above. Yes, Arsenal are scoring for fun atm but I also saw their games on Sky against Villa and Brighton in the last month and they just gave up when going behind, neither side was in particularly good form either at the time.

At least before Christmas Sheffield were competitive.

I think he probably would have walked quite early on. I doubt he's desperate for cash and wouldn't want the stress. Who knows where that would have left us.

I think one of Ruben's main assets is his hunger and resilience, which has rubbed off onto the team.

Ruben also probably realised that if he failed and was sacked/walked away from us then his chances of another management role elsewhere were rather slim to non-existent.

If we’d had a top 3 squad and Dai supporting the team rather than slowly choking it to death then Wilder may have been the right choice. But yeah he’d have walked ages ago if he’d been in Selles shoes

Selles shouldn’t be blamed for this- it’s completely on the players.

When we equalised I expected them to pull it out of the net and run back for the restart given the importance of a win and the effort show by fans at Carlisle and before.

When they didn’t it suggested to me that they either didn’t understand the significance (thick) or just CBA (lazy).

They seem to think we’re out of trouble. They should have paid a bit more attention in their Btech maths courses. Their future and that of the club is still very much in the balance.
