It was obviously contagious last night...from the evening standard..."gylfi sigurdsson scored from the spot after sean long was fouled"

What was wrong with everyone last night?!

Sarah Star
TheRealRoyal At the end of the Liverpool game, they called him Shaun Long. Disgrace.

Can this be renamed the 'Shaun Long' thread now in honour of tonight?

Can it now be renamed "Sean Long" in honour of the Irish (dare I say proper?) spelling?

Shocking. BBC can't do proper research, they don't know who does what. They think Nigel Gibbs is the director of football and Nicky Hammond is the reserve team coach.

I don't know where to begin with this quality journalism from the Observer of all papers!

'At 2-0, with Forest having taken their foot off the gas pedal, Camp produced outstanding saves from Gunnar Thorvaldsson. He also saved a Brian Howard penalty, awarded for a foul on Jimmy Glebe by Nick Shorey which brought the full-back – making his last Reading appearance on loan from Aston Villa – a red card.'

On Soccer Saturday, Jeff Stelling (normally such a professional) managed to get this one wrong as well. He suggested that ten-man Reading had done well to pull one back.
Maybe it was the fact that his beloved Hartlepool were being spanked at home by the Franchisees.

There's so much wrong with this I'm not sure where to start:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010 ... ng-burnley

If you're not going to put the slightest effort into researching the team, wouldn't it be better to save embarrassment and not bother with the match preview at all?

• Reading's last win at Bramall Lane was in 1998.
