We won't sign him before the summer - if at all - and I can't see us spending 4 million (or even 2 million) on him unless that's in Zambian Goats or whatever the currency is out there.

Anyway I guess we're decided that we're undecided given the general crapness of ACN teams and pitches etc. (at least until the Semis). This seems to go along with RFC's decision to merely continue to monitor him in the finals.

Sir Dodger Royal Agree but it is only one match

Yes. Can't compare really.

Funny how Herve Renard (sp?) is saying he should hold on for a move to a bigger team... not sure he's helping himself.

Would make a great film though.

The Times say West Ham are interested. I wonder if we'll get pipped in the race for option no.2 Curtis Davies.

Sky Sports understands Stoppila Sunzu's move to Reading has stalled due to doubts about the player's contract situation at TP Mazembe.

Reading are keen to sign the Zambia defender after he impressed on trial at the Madejski Stadium earlier this month.

Sunzu, who is currently away with Zambia at the Africa Cup of Nations, was hoping to finalise the move to Reading this week after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical during his stint in Berkshire last week.

However, an obstacle to the deal is a problem that has emerged with his contract situation at TP Mazembe.

Mazembe believes his contract TP Mazembe expired in December 2012, while the Congolese outfit claim the 23-year-old is under contract until 2015.

A source close to the player said that the player is very upset and cannot understand what the hold-up is, feeling he is now ready for the next step in his career by moving to the Premier League after three seasons at Mazembe.

Just watching SSN and Dharmesh Sheth has just gone into a bit of detail about it. He says TP Mazembe want £2.3million rather than £4million but as pointed out above, Sunzu claims he could be available on a free transfer.

Possible Sunzu may even have to leave the AFCON to hold discussions with FIFA about his contract situation, FIFA could decide he can leave for free now.

Starting to make sense now, if he was indeed supposed to be a freebie.

See this is what pisses me off about about this club.

Who cares if he should be available on a free, his club want £2.3m or he gets injured in the African Nations Cup. Stop penny pinching and sort this out by paying the £4m now.

So doesn't he have a copy of the contract he signed then (surely all players get a copy of their contract)? If I had a short term employment contract I'd have it's end date burnt into my mind.

£4m on a guy who at best can described as raw and unproven?

Yeah why not, lets make him our record signing by quite a margin :!:

Look at the transfer from Zanaco to TP Mazembe. He'd signed a contract with Zanaco then turned up at Mazembe apparently having joined them, the club knowing nothing about it. The Mazembe chairman's been quoted about a bit as driving a hard bargain (not compromising on price, unscrupulous tactics etc). Strange stuff.
