..the welcome re-appearance of the two first-team squad members apart, it still looked a bit like young men vs boys out there tonight - much as I'd have expected given the first team injury blight. Saw Pauno hopping about the Lower West too - nice to see him there.

-newly arrived fellah Scott got a run out late on but didn't really get enough time to feature much. The other tall-sub who came on and played deep on the left looked promising too (couldn't catch his name from the decidedly mumbly announcement ).

Holmes starting CB partner impressed too but he looks a bit small/lightweight even for this level - nevertheless he was one of the few who didn't shirk a challenge or lose the ball bringing it out - which (much like the first team) a fair number of the rest were guilty of - especially both FBs late on.
- I think it was Holmes replacement (didn't catch his name over the Tannoy either ) who lunged at the ball in midfield, as it broke clear from one of our attacks and missed a tackle completely letting So'ton through for the goal. Harsh perhaps as the cover failed to win the ball back on this occasion.

Holmes did get clattered right on H/T and didn't seem too happy about it - didn't re-appear - hopefully just precautionary - looked like his shin took a battering.

Collins somehow kept it down to one with some acrobatic blocks and was probably our best performer.

I was a bit disappointed with the front-line, who looked physically imposing (Clarke, Camara & Ehibhatiomhan?) but all too regularly were forced wide or off the ball altogether ... or just played it too far away from the supporting midfield.

Another home PL 2 match tomorrow evening at the Select car leasing stadium KO 7pm against Sunderland- both teams 9 matches 9 points.

Araruna played two games for the u23's, in the last couple of weeks, lasted an hour in the first and ten minutes in the second

Thought the last game was v Southampton U23s where Araruna returned from injury and played about an hour. Anyone know when the second game/10 minute stint was? If he only lasted 10 minutes it sounds like he isn't ready yet (and he didn't make the bench on Saturday).

It`s Monday tomorrow so the U23`s must be at home- this time it`s Aston Villa KO 7pm at the Select Car Leasing stadium- time for the team to get back to winning ways !! Won’t be easy- Villa 4th and the Royals 13th out of 14 in the Division.

Wasn`t there last evening, but when i have seen him he looks talented and seems to have a trick or 2 in is locker. Also aged 18.

Random thought... who in the youth set up has been semi regular in the England youth set up?

I know Loader was... I just wonder if there's a correlation there with being quality and not doing the business for us by getting head turned and an ego.

Happened with Shorey and the full squad. Could make a case for similar with Loader....

But that could just be confirmation bias.
