Ideal So let me see now.. if we need a striker..
Who can we get that..
-is at least 33 or older
-hasn't had any success the last 8-10 years..
-is available on a free or next to nothing fee
-hasn't really played any games the last 7-8 seasons
-has been free transfered by almost all of his most recent clubs..

Oh I don't know, nobody comes to mind right now. We'll have to look for someone sufficiently over the hill and poor enough quality.

I saw this earlier on the regional sports section on Ceefax and thought oh no what are we signing him for but since then I guess we're a little short on numbers in some positions and Hendrie has played in a variety of different positions for the clubs he has played for over the years.

I guess give him a short term contract (3-4 months) then if it works keep him until the end of the season if not the club have lost nothing and Hendrie is free to find another club when the next transfer window is opened.

Confirmation, if any was needed, that Reading FC are a joke.

Is that some sort of radio station ?

Vassell is 30 and looking to move back to the UK.
IF we have no money then get him.
IF we have money then instead get a prem loanee with a view to a purchase.
Simple.

(but he is another shortie...)

I listened to Mc on BBC and he seemed to be OVER-praising Hendrie
And saying he was excellent playing off the striker

But he's scored about a goal every ten games in his career...

What did I miss?

Presumably he can't actually play for us until he's signed some sort of contract :?

Then there are the likes of Liam Rosenior, Jeremie Aliadiere, Lee Hendrie, Francis Jeffers, Keith Gillespie, Russell Hoult, Gavin Mahon, Jay DeMerit, Barry Hayles - all experienced performers at a variety of levels, all united by the fact they are without a club.

from the BBC website,

judging by our current level of signings i remember Mahon being linked with us sometime ago and DeMerit could still do a job,Problem is i dont fancy any of the strikers in that list.

The last thing I read about DeMerit said he was looking to play "at the highest level".

We need a CF and judging by the latest additions, I think George Camsell would be an asset. Notched 59 for Middlesbrough in 1926/27 and I am pretty sure he would now be unattached as he died in 1966. Looks totally nails as well.

Wages could be a problem.

Agreed. Could cost Mr Mad an extra half-a-crown.

I think Barry Hayles would more than fill that hole.

Oh and just lol at Rosenior. Turned down a trial at City cause he had offers from the Prem!!

My colleague is a Brighton fan and I told him that we got Hendrie on trial and he says he did well for them last season but that was in League one, whether if he can do it in the Championship is another thing. He also commented "he must be getting on a bit, but useful as a back up player". So as others already stated he on trial and we got nothing to lose. But agree we definitely need a striker, as looking at our forward line doesn't exactly strike fear for the Opposition teams.

He also asked what happened to the extra 6/7 million!? Gone into the Chairman's pockets?

We're going to spend it on a new striker this week; Reading are exempt from the 'transfer window'.
