BBC Stats say it all.

Swansea 11 on target 1 off target
Us 5 on target 5 off target

We need a striker who can shoot straight but will Madejski allow McDermott to do something about it during the transfer window?

26-10-06
RoyalBlue Just why is one of our 'strikers' taking corners? Have we really got no one else on the pitch capable of taking a decent corner? :?

Tbh happens alot, Drogba sometimes at Chelsea, and Henry always used to take them for Arsenal. So im sorry to tell you, but thats something our "fans" cant moan about.

Hardly a valid comparison is it??!! Look at the quality in depth those clubs have/had when it comes to strikers/goalscorers. Compare and contrast with what Madejski's 'budget' provides to our manager!

Still at least Madejski can sleep more soundly now that the horrible PL with its great expense is drifting a bit further away from us.

Seem to recall that another club changed hands yesterday but still Madejski fails to sell and in doing so continues to be in demand for tv appeareances!

No one will be really surprised. Looks like we competed OK but were beaten by the better team. I'm off. The STGs can have the board for the first of January. I expect there'll continue to be ups and downs between about 6th and about 12th between now and the end of the season. Will it be 6th or 12th when it's all over though?

LOL @ people slamming me for saying we should get rid of Long and Church, both useless. Only a complete tool would have dropped our main goal threat in Hunt for today and played Robson-Kanu instead of Antonio.

Justice for Rodgers tbf.

It didn't sound like we played badly at all. Unlucky to lose this game but we do need another striker.

but Mcd did come out with his favourite line ..."we know what they're about"!!!...obv not today Brian, and to have the double done to you by your predecessor probably says it all ...he doesnt know what they're about

Avon Royal So Rodgers does the double over McDermott...........

I suspect he has derived far greater pleasure from doing the double over those in suits who sacked him!

Thought we rather gave this away today, too many changes. Long has played superbly recently, but he isnt an instinctive scorer of the sort we need, that I suspect we wont get.

Oh dear beaten by the better team! We could do with learning the goal isn't that oxf*rd wide too!

Reality check me thinks and with teams below us having played less games we could be lower in the table. Looks like a play off push is just that bit much without some investment. Still I expected a finish similar to last season.

I suppose you are right about that, although I suspect he wants the books to be in the positive to help justify his asking price.

Nine corners today and another blank! :(

Snowball, how does our corner conversion rate this season compare to previous seasons?

Exactly, for him football isn't played on the park, its in the book balancing.

I think the team were getting a bit carried away with being 6th. A few fans were though.

Agree totally. We were playing away to one of the automatic contenders and have not been willing or able to bring in someone to convert the chances so anything picked up today would have been a bonus. The league table is a bit more accurate now we are nearer the mid table. We are what we are - a reasonable team but nothing special.

Don't disagree with the need for a decent striker but I think our poor conversion rate from corners has as much to do with crap delivery/tactics as the lack of that striker.
