I asked this question a while back.

MY understanding was that you made ONE payment, based on when you lost a tie.

But the list seemed to argue that, no, it was money for each round, and added up.

I also thought it was (after expenses) one third home club, one third away, one third FA.

Svlad Cjelli
riverroyal The Royals will be getting £247,500 just for being shown live on TV against Man City/Villa . . . plus £360,000 should they win!

A replay would earn another TV fee.

They also got prize money of £67,500 for winning third round, £90,000 for fourth round and £180,000 for beating Everton plus £123,750 for last night's game being shown live.

On top of this there is a share of gate receipts, plus fees for being on radio and highlights shown on TV of other rounds

So far alone (including TV from quarter final) the Royals have made £708,750 from prize money and TV alone, so it must be over £1million so far . . .

No, that's wrong - you only get the prize money for the last round you make - it's not added up for every round.

Sure about that Svlad? I know when Eon started their sponsorship it was cumulative:

http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/FACompetitions/TheFACup/NewsAndFeatures/2008/FA_Cup_Prize_Fund

eg: "The winners will receive a total of £3.8m, an increase of 58% from last season's £2.4m. This includes £2m for winning The Final alone, up from £1m."

Svlad Cjelli Also, for those who said we'll get 50% of the Everton ticket income, it's actually 40% of this - after Everton's expenses are deducted. 20% of match receipts after expenses go to the FA prize fund.

Nope: 45% to each club and 10% to the pool.

Even more bizarre

Extra Preliminary Round winners (201) £750
Preliminary Round winners (166) £1,500
First Round Qualifying winners (116) £3,000
Second Round Qualifying winners (80) £4,500
Third Round Qualifying winners (40) £7,500
Fourth Round Qualifying winners (32) £12,500
First Round Proper winners (40) £18,000
Second Round Proper winners (20) £27,000
Third Round Proper winners (32) £67,500
Fourth Round Proper winners (16) £90,000
Fifth Round Proper winners (8) £180,000
Sixth Round Proper winners (4) £360,000
Semi Final winners (2) £900,000
Semi Final runners-up (2) £450,000
Final winners (1) £1,800,000
Final runners-up (1) £900,000

Why does a club earn 360K for winning a quarter-final and then (apparently) 450K for LOSING in the semi?

Isn't that the same as saying 450K (or 710K) for winning in the quarters?

Is there a list anywhere that simply says the total amount
awarded for getting X far?

Cross-post

So we've earned:

Third Round Proper winners (32) £67,500
Fourth Round Proper winners (16) £90,000
Fifth Round Proper winners (8) £180,000

£337,500 which would rise by £360,000 to £737,500 for getting through against Man City

PLUS £450,000 for simply getting to Wembley?

£1,187,500

Then percentage of gate receipts, TV Money?

Sixth Round Proper winners (4) £360,000

Semi Final winners (2) £900,000
Semi Final runners-up (2) £450,000 <<<<<

MmmMonsterMunch If by some miracle got to the final & played Manc or Arsenal we would get Europa League football too & no doubt that will be some more cash in the kitty.

Screw the money though I want a trip to Wembley.

Loving the fact BM treats the cup properly - it's a welcome distraction from the league which can be bloody frustrating at times!

Not sure where we would enter but the qualifying rounds could potentially end up costing the club more money that it brings in.

Winners of the FA Cup go straight into the play-off round (ie 1 before group format)

Good post - fair bit of conjecture in there - but here's to more posts of this calibre.

PieEater But a lot of those loans actually funded capital investments, increasing the asset value.

So what are you saying? That JM would think 'OK the assets of the club have increased so I wont want a return on my loan, I will get my money back when I sell up'

Get real. In many, many years of dealing with people who have done similar debt for equity deals I have never, ever met one that thought that way. They all, to a man, wanted the share prices to go up to maximise their investment. If the original loan had been used to sucessfully increase the asset value, and they also owned the asset, great! double bubble ROI
