I've been saying this for months. We're great at getting results but we're really not playing that well at all (depending on your definition I guess).
Ultimately I believe that, in the long run, results follow performances. At the moment this team is going some way to prove that wrong, but god it's not pretty to watch.
I think you're summing up of the cliche is pretty spot on though. It's just like using 'it's a tough place to go' in the build up to a game to line up an excuse nice and early.

Hoop, they don't inspire me with confidence. No "magic". I can barely think of a great performance,
but surely a 23-game run where we have more ppg than any team in the league can't be an accident?

I suspect it's more to do with how McDermott sets us up. We win games without being pretty.
We could play a more expansive game and win some/lose some 3-2/2-3 but the way we are
setting out to play is ultra-safe in terms of hard-to-score against but is not so good for
generating chances, and thus our strikers have less goals etc.

'...a 23-game run where we have more ppg than any team in the league can't be an accident'?

Do you think that's why I said 'at the moment this team is going some way to prove that wrong'?

I was responding to this

Ultimately I believe that, in the long run, results follow performances.

Well that's great, but is there much point in being quite so selective in which bits you pick out of a post when the context/complete quote changes it's point so dramatically?

Wasn't your point that performances weren't good enough and results would eventually suffer?

Not really, the bit of my post you seem to be unable to digest quite crucially points out that this team are so far proving my general view to be wrong for this squad.

Perhaps you just find the concept of someone accepting that they might be wrong hard to comprehend.

* I say so far because I don't know what's going to happen in the future.
