TBM
ReadingJim Absolutely superb performance today. We were sat behind the Blackpool goal in the first half, in the South Stand and that early volley by Kebe that hit the post was absolutely stunning - very unlucky not to score.

Dont remember that........remember the first minute when Kebe missed kicked across the goal and Hunt failed to tap it in!?

The speed that was going at it certainly wasn't a tap in. Hunt couldn't get out of the way and it bounced off him. Also it looked on target to me, but I may be wrong.

Would have gone wide if it hadn't have hit him.

Being as hungover as I was due to birthday celebrations, this was always going to be a struggle for me. We are proving to be extremely clinical of late. I actually thought defensively Harte wasn't completely at the races but with those set pieces he simply has to be playing every game! Thought blackpool kept the ball well but hardly did a thing with it bar that absolute screamer.

I'm struggling to write here so....ecstatic with the 3 points, Brian is a genius and, onto Upton Park...

Wonder if anyone fancies a Seol Ki Hyeon kind of effort...

I don't *think* so - but now you have me doubting myself! Guess I'll be watching again tonight too then ;-)

I can confirm that the only player to hit the post today was McAnuff - no mention of Kebe's phantom volley on the clubs twitter feed either

BBC Sport:

1:19 Jimmy Kebe takes a shot. Noel Hunt gets a block in.

Makes it sound like Hunt was trying to defend it

We are still good enough to beat Over two legs or in a Wembley final.

Who agrees?

Saints or West Ham no way but Reading yes.

Great win today, we looked comfortable throughout, though I did have a brief moment of doubt following Lua Lua's cracker!

Thought Blackpool looked tired and at times lost, how are they sixth and when was the last time they managed to actually keep a clean sheet?! Still, nice of them to bring the weather down with them! 8)

Jem & Hunty share my MOTM for working like dogs! A real buzz going into next weeks tie.

P.S. What happened to the ball after the second goal? All I saw was it flying out over the stadium roof. Assuming someone got a little over excited in celebration or perhaps a Blackpool defender got a tad wound up?

P.P.S. The ref falling over Pearce was proper lolz!

winchester_royal I was actually very impressed with Afobe considering it's his first competitive game in 10 months, he's 19, and he's only had one day's worth of training with his new team mates. He showed more than enough to suggest he can play a big part in the run-in.

Anyway, thought Jem was absolutely superb today.

Could not agree more. Afobe actually done well when he was brought into the game. I thought he done very, very well in the circumstances.
Think McD was very clever in playing him because he is VERY similar to Roberts in style of play, infact if you squinted your eyes it could have been him!

If Church or ALF had started then we would have had to changed the set up and the way we currently play etc etc. With Afobe doing basically what Roberts has done it was a bit of a masterstroke of McD IMO. And we won so he was right!

I'm pretty sure that the incident you are thinking of was when the ball came out to Kebe who was 6 or 7 yards out, and who smashed it goalwards; it didn't hit the post - it smacked against Noel Hunt (who was close to the post) who was taken by surprise so had no chance to control or direct the ball, and as a result, it cannoned back into play.

I can imagine from the South Stand, especially at the pace the ball was moving, you could be mistaken for thinking that the ball hit the post.

Clearly this is what happened - must have been the angle I saw it from as you say!
