I'd have got my phone out and started filming them and warned them I would turn over the evidence to the nearest ticket inspector.

That would undoubtedly have shut them up.

I'll just put this here and let the discussion continue

I posted this link on one of the other threads about the Southampton game.

I actually like and admire the way that the RFC supporter disdainfully ignores the Southampton fans. Nothing worse than have someone completely ignore you when you are trying to wind them up!

At one point he does look down the track for signs of his train but that appears to be more out of boredom than worry.

Anyway, as they say, 'he who laughs last laughs loudest' and I reckon the guy was roaring with laughter come 9.50pm on Friday evening.

We are looking into it but in all fairness to Jonny it is not his area. Could anyone who was there contact our crime reporter Mike Pyle - michaelpyle@trinitysouth.co.uk

Thanks, James.

Dai Brainbocs Heck of a coincidence that this happens the same week as the police nationwide launched a campaign to get football clubs to pay for policing away from the immediate area of grounds. Granted supporters returning from an away game isn't quite the same thing, but it helps soften the public up to the idea that riot squads at railway stations are a vital component of having a football club in your town.

Down in the Conference Stockport's chairman has complained about the club being used as a cash cow by Greater Manchester Police and GMP using their games as training exercises for bigger grounds but charging the club for the privilege. At least one game there the police bill far exceeded the gate money from visiting supporters and at others it swallowed most of it.

Exactly. They will use THEIR over-zealous actions to "show" how they "had to" turn out etc.

Have to say, this is all that I could think of, reading the story - budgetary justification games. I thought the days of pre-emptive show-of-force crowd policing were over, creates completely the wrong message for football.

To be fair sounds like we weren't angels in Southampton...

All for wearing a classy jumper. That's the name of the game! Bad result, we played bloody excellent but Reading came into our back garden and stole our apples! Gutted is an understatement.

Taken over by Royals, they're not in friendly mood. One of them swung for me when I offered a handshake. Be warned.

But I did like one of the last comments:-

Turn it in FFS. Some of you weirdos need to get a grip. ReadinG brought a mob, deal with it, that's football.

Southampton were backed off by a man in a big coat by the coaches. Fact.

Make of that what you will.

Also from Twitter, Rickie Lambert's name was roundly booed by the Reading fans when read out over the tannoy. Can only be related to the 'one-man team' thing? Pathetic if so.

How dare we boo an opposition player!

Lol exactly our 'mob' as it is known consists of about 4 people. It will certainly not do too well next season at the likes of Liverpool/United away

Hopefully we can shrug of the arrest table shame of last season then. Hate seeing us down there.

I've been thinking about setting up the Lower And Maiden Erleigh Royals Supporters for just this type of thing
