2 world wars, 1 world cup Wembley 95. The day was pretty good until about 86mins then it went a bit wrong.

I would say any game under Parj before pants day, but those days were actually quite fun because I could get to sit where I wanted and the chanting boys would find their way to the back of the east and get quite a few good chants going. I fact I miss those days, even though the matches were awful.

This. Or Wokingham vs Cardiff in the FA Cup 1st Round about 1981, Wokingham were winning 1-0 with less than 10 minutes to go when the Cardiff fans rioted, which was pretty scary. Game stopped for about half an hour or so, then restarted and needless to say Cardiff equalised and won the replay.

Now, if you were to change this to best matchday experience ... Southampton 1 Reading 3 ...

1970's 2-0 home win, v Pompey whose fans ran the ground (I now occasionally work alongside one of the "skates" who owned the Southbank that day....my, how we laugh about it, recalling those good old days)

1987 away at Walsall, top of the league, beaten 6-0, freezing cold and even my pie was frozen in the middle

The Wolves p/o

A random Rodgers evening game where I, sat there reading the adverts in the programme as an alternative to the pitchside non action

In terms of the actual game Bolton play off final.

I lost the car once at Southend I think - 1982 was a Friday night game so dark and couldn't remember where it was parked!

Got chased by Exeter fans across Prospect Park 1979 - think we had won 3-1.

Birmingham 0 Reading 1 May 1990.

Gilkes hit late winner, the Away end collectively shat its pants. Only time at a game i was convinced i was in for a bloody good hiding.

Nah that was about 1978, the thought of Cardiff going to Wokingham. Bunch of animals...

My mate was one of the riot coppers when Swansea ran riot in 92 (or was it 93?). 17 coppers ran them out of the ground, he remembers his sergeant issuing him with a long baton telling him to go for arms and legs only. First thing he sees his sergeant do? Hits a Swansea Jack over his head with it and he drops like a sack of spuds..... Swansea weren't so gobby after that apparently

This for sheer :| (their keeper made a point of celebrating the goal in front of us) although the Wimbledon home match SFers mentioned runs it very close.

Got a pre-match beating at West Brom in 1994 (the match when Gilkes was racially abused by WBA's Paul Raven and was sent off for reacting), we walked into a random pub in Smethwick and some cunt smashed a bottle on my head - stood and took it though

Probably worth re-mentioning Bolton away in 1992 (previously posted this in the "Have You Ever Had A Shit At A Match" thread a few months back) - had a dodgy pie at half time, it was out again from both ends within 10 minutes, older fans will remember the Normid infested away end of Burnden Park, the toilets had one trap, with no seat and the traditional three inches of lagery piss on the floor, but no matter, I had to sit there and smoke my cigarettes until it had all come out. Oh yeah - no door either

More recently - yeah, we went to Old Trafford and only got a 0-0 draw. Modern football is rubbish.

the Wimbledon game was a good shout, (although my memory is fading)....wasn't that sandwiched with a 3-0 home defeat to Palace and a cup game 3-0 home reversal to Watford?....or something like that

Without doubt Bolton at Wembley in 95. A devastating experience and I have never felt so gutted after losing a game. Took me ages to get over it. I thought at the time that it would be the closest we would ever get to the Premier League.

No, it was the one where 6000 of them went for him.

Anyone go the the Bristol City home game in 84? Only just recalled that one, and for a good reason. That was a proper nasty experience, easily the worst at Elm Park that i saw. They ripped up the town end, flying concrete was the order of the day.

Vision Pissed on at Wolverhampton

Yes, that was part of the experience I was referring to above.
When we pointed it out to the stewards, they were selectively ignorant.
They say smell is the most evocative sense for memories - piss was part of the atmosphere I recall now - running the gauntlet back to the car parks.
Bloody animals.

Are you saying that the Reading fans were in the stand below, with the Wolves fans in the stand above, and they pissed down onto you?

I'm surprised. My dad is a Wolves fan although obviously I'm a Reading one. I know Wolves fans can be ******s at times but very surprised they would piss on away fans. Was that down the side of the pitch because the fans above aren't hardcore unlike those behind the goals?

for those along the side of the pitch (in the lower tier)...families/kids/oaps.... it was a bad day

F11cking disgraceful behaviour by "Wolves Fans" who were too old to own their own teeth or too young to pay for their own sweeties, both inside and outside of the ground.

I have never witnessed such unprovoked intimidation, and all of that without a proper "kick-off"

The Stewards (bar one) in the ground and the Police outside it, were worse than bloody useless that day.

Last away game of the season, No inflatables back then.

Brum needed a win in this game to keep the playoff hope alive but it was ruined by that man "Woahhhhh Jimmy Jimmy, Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy, Jimmy Quinn"

I'd travelled up with my Dad and 3 of his mates wearing my home shirt (Only 17 at the time, 1996). On leaving St Shithole, I managed to lose our group in the crowd. On vacating the security of the away pen, I was bear hugged from behind by some brummie cunt. 1 of his mates then headbutted me and kicked me to the ground where I was kicked further. As I got up, I was then was spat at and kicked somemore before I legged it and jumped some railings into a nearby park. Walked across the park to where the car was parked and then met my old man and friends. The old man starts asking "What's happened to you" so I told him. He blamed it on me being mouthy (I never said a word to them). We got in the car and started to drive home. We drove only about 500 yards before having to stop at a traffic light when the same guys that done me over came strolling along. They spotted me in the car and started giving the car a good shoeing before the old man stuck the peddle to the metal and caned it through the red light.

I had a £5 bet with Ladbrokes that day with Reading to win 2-1, Claimed £75 so wasn't all bad. Underage gambling FTW

Oh, I've never worn anything with colours or allegiance away from home again

Stuboo Being knocked out of the play offs by Burnley. Horrible. It hurt. And being in Y25 you had the jeering, celebrating away fans rubbing it in. Then I had to face the banter in the pub afterwards. Painful.

Second to that, one of the home games when we were doing rubbish under Brendan Rogers. One game the home fans turned on each other in Y25/26. Some were booing the team and others took offense to this, shouting back at them. It was just an awful atmosphere a) because we were on a massive losing run; b) because of the bitterness between the fans.

QPR away was the real turning point there. Rogers had well and truly lost the support that day. That was probably the death knell.

That is a FACT
