winchester_royal We're being played on this one..

Actually, I doubt we're even interested and he's just name-dropped a lower-PL team to scare Arsenal into putting an offer on the table

Any reason for this hunch?

Doesn't make any sense.

Brian's been talking about there not being much money and the need for experienced prem players this window..and now he's willing to make a 23 year old who's never been out of Africa our record signing?

Does not compute.

Could it not be part of a long-term policy?

It could be, but when there's an already limited budget I just can't see it.

Happy to be proved wrong though.

With Pearce possibly on the way out - could we be using the money from that to bring this fella in?

Brian wants a couple of PL experienced loans; that doesn't mean he wont buy someone like this guy as well. £3m is probably the budget in Jan plus loans. Sound likely to me.

there is no way in hell we would pay 5 million for an cb who is playing in an african league when we wouldnt even shell out 5 million for wilfred zaha who is younger and in a more proven league!

It's a misquote. They want 5m euros and we have offered £3m. Arsenal offered £1.8m. He wont come here in any case, we're just a useful negotiating tool.

fair enough, with pearcey more than likely leaving in janurary surely we need another cb though? maybe this is a real punt at getting him and not just a negotiation tool?

He is a CB, but also plays CDM.

yea i saw that, it still seems like 3m is a lot to spend on a unproven player like him, even if he is able to fill two huge gaping holes we need fixed...im not sure how much quality is in the african leagues to be honest. then again he could be a gem from a league like that.

He's just won the African player of the year for African based players.

They actually messed up the giving out of prizes and he came third :|

Coat. Got. Gone.

Yeah. Never mind Stopzilla, SunZu has to be a great name for a winning player.

L'Equipe appear to have confused the two brothers, this guy is a striker, the other one is a defender (according to Wikipedia, though strangely their dates of birth are a month apart? Could be same dad and different mothers I guess? Who knows?).... Getting more and more intriguing
