21pts from now is sound (but still more than we are likely to need) but he wants 38pts with just one of them being secured in the next 6 games..................................back to our worst form of the season when we had a long injury list and none of our January signings :|

That's not overly pessimistic, that's someone refusing to accept that we still have a very realistic chance of avoiding relegation.

If we won are next 16 games and Man United lost their next 16, we'd still be a point behind them

It's pessimistic, based on our season so far. Not sure why you're having such a hard time accepting my opinion.

Lets be honest 3 points is nothing!

Its cliché' but we must win our next game. This is the first time in months where we could potentially lift ourselves out of the relegation zone . Its not inconceivable that both Wigan and Villa lose and we win. Our GD could/will be vital at the end!

Get yourself out of the ZONE before the end window and it might encourage to AZ to dig deep.

Many of you think our wins have not been convincing but with our squad they won't be, so there is no reason why we can't just grind a couple wins out now!

So back to the original point of where will be after 10 games. Depends if we win on Saturday!

Back in 2004, Everton finished 4th. They were second at one point.

Did they thrash anyone... no they didn't. They won games 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 and I think there was a couple of 4-3's in there too. When they lost, they lost 4-0, 5-0 etc. It doesn't matter how we get out of it... we just need to make sure we score one more than the other team at the end. Thats all.

Don't even get me started on Greece that same year

Fair enough, so, in your opinion, how many wins will we need now with ten games to go, bearing in mind of course, that we can't possibly win many games between now and then :|

With 10 games left we will have won the title and confirmed the signing of Andrea Pirlo (to join in the summer).

It is quite difficult to expect us get much out of Chelsea, a rejuvinated Sunderland or Stoke away. But Wiganat home should be looked on as definitely winnable. And I'd like to think we could pick up a point from the other three at least.

4 wins from our last ten seems a reasonable, if not necessarily likely requirement. Beating Newcastle was definitely a bonus.

I figured we could reasonably get 19 more points. Maybe a bit more. Thats being fairly conservative too.

Snowball I looked at the next 6 games (7 for Southampton)
and guesstimated the results

QPR and Villa look in big trouble, and if we do beat Wigan we
should have crept out of the bottom 3

28 -14 28 Southampton
28 -13 28 Newcastle
28 -16 25 Reading
28 -22 22 Wigan
28 -34 20 Villa
28 -24 19 QPR

Saints
0 0-3 Chelsea Away 2-2
Newcastle
1 1-1 Reading Home 1-2
WIGAN
1 1-1 Sunderland Home 2-3
Villa
0 0-1 WBA Away 2-2
Reading
1 1-1 Newcastle Away 2-1
QPR
1 1-1 West Ham Away 1-1

Good start SB - 1 right

Don't know why we bother actually playing the games. Should just get the pools panel to sort it....(do you still have pools over here or amilookinglikeacunt?)

The tide of bad luck seems to be turning and the lady luck herself now seems to have more time for us. But make no mistake had she been with Cisse and Lukaka the situation we would have found ourselves in today would be very, very different.

Pearce and Mapps have got to learn to defend and mark goal side very very quickly.

Assuming they do and fortune continues to favour us, then there is absolutely no reason - with our tails up - we cannot pull one over on hot and cold Chelsea.

Sunderland at home is definitely do-able and another smash and grab raid, this time at the Britannia is possible.

It's looking better.

"Difficult to expect" is not the same as impossible. Not getting "much" still leaves room for a point or two.

Reading4eva Don't even get me started on Greece that same year

Funny, I was thinking that. Greece had a pretty high shots to goals ratio. Again yesterday, 2 shots on target and 2 goals.

Be interested (genuinely) in Snowballs stats on the above for the other teams.

Royal Ginger QPR have drawn with Tottenham and won against Chelsea. They'll sort themselves out. Wigan will get out of it, they always do, Martinez is a master. We're in it with Villa, Southampton & Newcastle. If we're lucky Norwich and West Ham will keep sliding and be in the mix. We're still big outsiders, but there's a bit of momentum, and we could do it.

We need to keep this mini run going & cash in on the feel good factor to get out of the bottom 3 & stay out I think. Lets face it, the quality isn't necessarily there at times but the players must feel the best they've felt for quite some time & we need to capitalise on that. If the WBA result can't give them an extra 10% on the pitch then frankly nothing will.

Beat Newcastle, draw with Chelsea, draw / beat Sunderland. Easy peasy!

Cough cough
