Why McDermott or Adkins even considered playing Taylor or Flapperici instead of McCarthy baffles me

Brilliant from McCarthy. Feel a lot more confident with him in goal. Gets down much better than Feds, and he's taller too.

Probably our best 40 minutes for some time. We were always gong to be vulnerable at the back, but we're actually trying to pass the ball and look a little bit more composed and dangerous going forward.

That save from McCarthy was world class.

We grew in that half. Much better. Good solid keeping by McCarthy. Feds can get his big move this summer, it wont hurt us at all. Gunter also excellent!!

Match of the day is going to be rubbish tonight. Only 1 premier league goal by half time.

a lot of positives to take so far. only two games into the nigel adkins era and we are playing some of the best football all season. i dont care what the moaners on here will say, this brand of football is SO much better to watch than anything we did all season. if we get the right passing and attacking players in this offseason we could tear up the championship. even though i love BM to death even this early into the NA era i can tell it was the right decision for the progression of the club. even when we inevitably lose today we can take so many positives. (id love to be wrong but we are playing liverpool, if this was against QPR or a midtable team id consider our chances to win good)

I must be watching a different game! I think we look cumbersome at the back, no creativity in the middle and slow up front.

Guthrie is my pick for worst player. Has given the ball away countless times and his set peices invariably are too long or fail to beat the first man. It seems Danny Guthrie's biggest fan is himself. Karacan is equally lightwieght in the middle. McCarthy aside - who has been a rock and outstanding - only McCleary and McAnuff come out of that half with any credit. Hunt has battled well, but like most of the rest he looks so short of quality at this level.

OK on the break, but looking very shaky when they come back at us. McCarthy having a blinder. Liverpool should be ahead but for some poor finishing/desperate defending/excellent goalkeeping, but we're more in it then we thought we'd be. If Rogers sorts their heads out at half time we're in for a very rough second half.
