Royal91 424 passes in one game. Normally average about 280!

Brilliant news.

You genuinely can't see past one result and acknowledge the benefits of long term progression? What a sad little life you must lead.

andrew1957 Terrible management by Adkins. Poor team selection and absolutely no attempt to win the game and no substitutions to even try to get out of the hole.

Our admittedly very slim chances of survival went out of the window when Brian was sacked.

 We were crashing out of the Premier League like a meteor crashing to earth under McDermott, and having to endure appalling hoofball at the same time. At least we are now floating gently down under Adkins and are seeing a pretty good attempt at playing some decent passing football in the process (look at the first half stats from today's game). What's more, having made the change now, we hopefully won't have to endure the traditional 'McDermott slow start' next season.

Ok, you've won the argument. You've convinced me that we're in better hands now and that we can look forward to long term progression.

ANYONE that is asking for Adkins out is clearly a jeb.

It is clear to see that we are playing better football than we ever did under Brian, granted he could have made some subs today but I seriously do not think our team is that far off. The midfield has looked 1000 times better under Adkins and we are still scoring a few goals, the problems lie in defense. We have always been strong at set pieces and defending crosses but this season countless goals have come from crosses and set plays. If we had maybe invested in a few experienced defenders last summer then we would potentially be in a lot better place. After all if we had defended the set piece better today we would have come away with at least a point.

The first half of saints we played well, the second half of Liverpool we played well and the first half of today we played well, the progress is clear to see. We undoubtedly have a strong enough team to build a basis around next season, and although Nigel is yet to pick up a win we I am quietly optimistic about the team are progressing under his guidance.

What planet are you on? We played well for 10 mins max. We could have been 5-0 down at helf time and deservedly so.

To see what he could do during 90 minutes of a proper game, prior to deciding what to do with him come the summer.

If you care more about the final result of what was effectively a dead rubber for us, rather than seeing a progression in the style and standard of our play, then I'm not sure there is any convincing you tbh m8.

We could have easily been 2.0 up before they scored, Alf missed a sitter and mapps nearly scored.

The link up play between (I think) hrk and gunter down the right was some of the best passing we have played, but as soon as they scored our heads dropped.

Perspective: Other than two goals (both a little lucky in the way that McCarthy's saves fell to a Norwich player) in two minutes we were largely the better team. Blackman wasn't great but he had his moments and I think he'll do a good job for us next season. We're already relegated so the results don't matter, the performances do and in that first half we played some delightful stuff.

McCarthy - 7 - Some rather good saves, could have done better with the second.
Gunter - 6 - Will be central next year, lots of lovely overlapping runs.
Mariappa - 5 - Sloppy in possession at times
Morrison - 6 - Looks a bit steadier in possession.
Kelly - 7 - Definite improvement from a few weeks ago, looked to bomb forward at any opportunity.
McCleary - 8 - Looked awesome, not seen him like that since the Chelsea game. Has more technique to his game than HRK. The heir to Kebe.
Karacan - 5 - Barely saw him, although that could be due to my dodgy stream. Was a great Brian player but won't fit into the new regime.
Guthrie - 6 - Quiet game, bit average, not much to say.
McAnuff - 6 - As above. Indecisiveness is very annoying.
Blackman - 5 - Had some good spells and then some wayward shots. Prefer him as a striker than a winger.
Pog - 7 - Lovely stuff from Pog, much better utilised under Adkins

Adkins - 5 - Good starting line up but we were crying out for a change at 60 minutes. ALF was made for games like that, Hunt can terrorise and Carrico won plaudits against Liverpool for a reason.

Since Brian got sacked we've scrapped one fortuitous draw from five games. Brian would've done better. What a shambolic, disgraceful decision.
