Cobi
Simon's Church When did Hammond change from Nicky to Nick btw?

5-6-7 years ago. :| Our previous stint in the top flight in fact.

:!:

No1 told me! Next you'll be saying we've had Nick Shorey at left back all season.

Interesting how everyone whose contract has run out has been confirmed as leaving apart from Alex Pearce. Are the club still trying to convince him to stay?

Nick Hammond Speaking regarding Alex Pearce, Nick said, “We have been speaking to him with regards to his contract throughout the season. Unfortunately, up until this point we have not managed to find a deal which is mutually acceptable to both parties. I am keen however, now the season has finished, to have a further conversation with Alex and his representatives to understand his thoughts and give him the club’s final position.”

From this it would appear the club are giving him a final "take it or leave it" ultimatum. If this is the case it could possibly backfire on Pearce. He's obviously not good enough for a regular place in a PL team and there won't be many Champ sides prepared to offer him a deal as good or better than us. He has a very important decision to make.

And I am hoping that the terms of the final offer are less generous than the previous offers.

He came in for a lot of stick very early on last season. He was a cheap punt at the time, and sadly it hasn't worked out for him. Don't forget he was on his way to league one when we jumped in and signed him from Southampton. It seems that may be his level.

Plus he was third choice under Adkins at Southampton.

TheSiege I put up a better thread on the Rumours line way before but it was deleted by one of the Trolls!

It probably just sank under the weight of all the exclamation marks.

Yes - back in March. Shortly before Adkins took over.

Clearly not going to happen.

In the 'real world' I don't know any Nick that chooses to be called Nicky, yet in football it seems to be all the rage. Nicky Forster, Nicky Law, Nicky Shorey, Nicky Maynard, Nicky Butt, Nicky Adams...
