He's put in plenty of long range efforts for us, they've just mostly been rather mediocre.

He looked a different player towards the end of the season when he played in a bit more advanced position. Not really got the goals to be a 10 behind a single striker though.

West Stand Man How on earth was that credited as an OG? It was a deflected shot but not an OG.

I agree, you agree, US Soccer agrees (still saying it was Danny's 1st goal for the US national team) but the box score read "o.g.".

Hopefully Danny is squarely back in the frame for a spot on the Gold Cup roster. After the time he missed with injury over the last 18 months it will be an opportunity to continue building on what he did with Reading during the second half and come into camp in game shape and sharp.

On the other hand some of the lesser talented teams in CONCACAF try to compensate for their lack of talent with added physicality (bordering on dirty play) which tends to lead to injuries...

Both really strong for Wales tonight, Gunter was immense and the FA Cup version of HRK was on show!

Fair f*cks to the pair of them, brilliant result, puts them in with a shout. Draw and a win from Israel and Bosnia (assuming they beat Cyprus and Andorra) should see them through to the finals.

Something strange going in Wales! Gareth Bale suddenly isn't anonymous, Chris Gunter can suddenly defend and HRK suddenly knows how to play football.

Says something about the Reading "team"! Two of our players who regularly get mocked on here put in great performances in a competitive international game against a country currently rated #2 in the world.

Says more about them than it does us, HRK has essentially been a passenger for the entire season, you can count the amount of good games he's had on one hand... and still have fingers left over.

How Belgium are ranked #2 in the world highlights just how pointless the current ranking system is.

Hector controlled Cavani very well. McCleary was fairly anonymous. Jamaica didn't deserve to lose either, they played some good football

Indicates how much the players are prepared to put in for a "normal" championship match. HRK was on TalkSport tonight saying that he scored 7 goals in the Premeirship and would like to add to that tally, the commentators mentioned he still has a year contract at Reading and asked if they were any links to other clubs, HRK professionally said if there were any that his agent would be dealing with them. Let's hope the Wales match reminded other clubs of what two fine players are at Reading and how reasonable offers might let the players return to the Prem league.

Noticed that with Quinn and McShane joining we're only a Goalkeeper and 1 sub away from having an entire historical Ireland/Reading squad:

-----------------------GK-------------------------
Kelly------Pearce-----McShane----Harte
Doyle---Quinn-----Houghton---S Hunt
-----------------Long-----Cox------------------

Subs: Maybury, O'Dea, N Hunt, Bennett, Sub 5

Yep, well spotted Pepe, Gamble makes the bench for number 5.

Bonner never played a game for Reading and Mooney has only played for the Ireland U23s

Just a goalie then.

Nick Colgan made 5 appearances in goal for Reading when on loan from Chelsea in 1998. He also had 10 caps for Ireland.

Done!

So he did, excellent, there you go, full Irish team of current and ex Reading players. I recon it must be close to being able to do it with the Welsh too.
