Maguire That picture is amazing  General B devotes his life to knocking up potatoshops of the typing rod crew and the Chronicle go one better in an actual newspaper. Honestly has me doubting if it's real.

That said, anyone who witnessed the darkest day in the club's history would not be taking this report too lightly.

The article is clearly utter nonsense. Everyone knows the Scorpians, despite being one of the most feared mobs in the land, are largely inactive these days due to family commitments and rising motability insurance premiums. Maybe this Nick Gutteridge (if that IS his real name...?!) would like to take a stroll down the Manchester Road and discuss the factual inaccuracies of the article. I'm sure King Barry and the lads will give him a friendly reception!!1!

The TTC's finest hour:

Football thugs were accused today of targeting a bus of disabled Middlesbrough fans after the Reading match.

An entry on the Internet site OffatEleven.com purports to have been put up by Paddy Cronesberry, chairman of Boro's Disabled Supporters' Club.

It claims the minibus was attacked by Reading fans and that one young fan was left "traumatised."

Only the foresight of the coach driver prevented able-bodied passengers getting off to confront the rival fans, the message adds.

The message reads: "An open question to those Reading fans who attacked - not too strong a word - the Middlesbrough Disabled Supporters' minibus on Relief Road as it was leaving the Madejski yesterday:

"I am the current Chairperson of Middlesbrough FC Disabled Supporters' Association and would like to ask: "Are you pleased with your cowardly behaviour, which caused a great deal of unnecessary upset to some of the disabled kids on board?

'They were scared stiff that you would eventually smash the windows in and have asked not to be taken to any more away games with us. One of the youngsters was over the moon to be going to his first ever away PL (Premier League) game but having spoken with his parents earlier to ask after his welfare, this unsavoury episode has knocked his confidence totally and he is still very quiet and traumatised today.

"The able-bodied Middlesbrough fans on board were only prevented from escalating the situation due to the driver's presence of mind by keeping the minibus moving forward, albeit at walking pace, which stopped them getting off the bus and into an unwanted confrontation.

"I apologise to all true Reading fans for my vitriol, and this is no way meant to be a 'paint everyone with the same brush' statement, but I would urge you to rid your support of this cancer, and if you know any of those morons responsible, to report them to your club, which doesn't deserve to be blighted blight by those likely to give it a bad name."

Mr Cronesberry declined to comment today.

Bugger - this reminded me that I saw the tweet this morning and replied "what???" - just checked and Nick Gutteridge replied saying " not all Reading fans obviouly but well worth a read to find out what some supporters get up to, particularly away from the Mad Stad" - so I just replied "I go to away games and you're spouting rubbish and disrespecting club and fans" I wanted to put a swear word but he'd accuse us old people of being the worst at this hooliganism lark, so I didn't.

Everyone who’s ever been to a football match knows that if there is any "hooliganism" – and yes there is a tiny amount as the figures show – it would be highly unlikely to come from someone in a football shirt. What problems there are tend to come from "casuals" – certainly not from shirt-wearing supporters.

So once again a local journalist who has an exclusive is attacked by Reading fans. And for what? Oh yeah, merely doing his job and exposing what is a very real issue.

Lazy Journalist Well worth a read to find out what some supporters get up to, particularly away from the Mad Stad

Please can someone spill the heinous details of what some supporters get up to, particularly away from the Mad Stad?

Agreed. These days colours are often seen as a way of blending in with 'normals' when travelling to a 'meet' in order to avoid the unwanted attentions of the local five-0, as this recent picture clearly demonstrates.

It's hardly a laughing matter. Especially when the poor behaviour in the Stadium spills out on to the Internet.
